The data cable must have a special chip in it to work with Nokia PC Suite, alot of non-authentic Nokia cables do not have the required chip, this is probably why PC Suite wont recognise the phone. I suggest you try Oxygen

Hmmm...I tried Oxygen also, but it didn't work either. Methinks that the cable, although pin compatible, may not work with my phone...

Just a thought. Go into the connection manager thing, it will be in your system tray. Make sure that you have selected the right connection. I think from memory you select serial cable even if its a USB cable. Have a play in there and see if you have any joy. Personally I have an infrared thing for my computer and it works awesomly. Cost about $60 from Dick Smith

The 3105 doesn't have IR, maybe I will have to shell out for a genuine Nokia cable. Only 3 times the price of my dodgie one...

the 6585 has IR, so i'm really after drivers for palmOS 5.0 to talk irda to the 6585
(bluetooth would be nicer, but qualcomm sucks)

what sort of price is a cable?
or better yet, what's your email address?

jaradw-nospam@pccard.co.nz (remove the -nospam bit of course). If you're a dealer include the details in the email and I'll email you back with dealer or RRP as appropriate.

Thx.

Hey guys.. my java folder is locked. I can't install any games or applications. I'm using PC suite 5.22 and when I load application installer it says that "free space is not known" on the phone. What could be causing this problem ??

thanks in advance

taniwha, in order to use your Palm with the IR modem on the 6585, you need to add the following init string: +CRM=1;+CSO=33

This works for both PockePC and PalmOS, HOWEVER, I can't syncronize with this connection. I'm able to browse and stuff but the Network Sync doesn't work properly. I works fine with ActiveSync (PocketPC). I will do some more testing on this and post my updates.

If some one else can give me some more input on this, I would appreciate it.

don't want a modem anymore.. :-) I'll keep using my prepay GSM.

i want to sync the calendar and todos, and games, ringstones, wallpaper - using Linux
At the time of my post i was trying to decide between the 6585 and 3105

i got the 3105 - and pinched a cable from my father (probably should send it back one day???)
and i've got the calendar syncing with kandy - but no luck with ringtones and the other gimicks.

I tried one .inf file I found online nmpCDMA2000_1x.inf and it seems like it should work but when I query the modem I get nothing. Only want to use this for 14.4 access on Verizon in Los Angeles.

Hey there! Just one more that have a 6585 phone from VIVO-RS/Brazil! :P

Two weeks ago I started to call to Vivo to ask them why I couldn't download Java Apps and Games from Minibrowser. I talked +/- 3 hours in total with them until yesterday, when they told me to go to a Nokia Assistence to update my phone software. I just can say that Vivo is reeeeaaaaly boring... I'll go today to the Nokia Assist. to see if they unlock my Applications menu and the downloads in minibrowser. If they unlock, I'll tell you all.
The problem that I can't save images or ringtones happens to me too. It does not have the Save option in minibrowser menu. But when i save a ringtone as a page, it saves, and i can access it on minibrowser and hear the tone, but can't save to use it as a ringtone...

Someone from Vivo has already activated the Applications Menu???
Ah! They said that the version of my software was wrong, even after I have verified it with other assitent.
My actual version is: V H100V0603.nep
It is of 22-01-04.
They said that I needed to have something like V H101V????.nep1
What versions do you have?

(To access version info, type *#837# - 837 = "ver", version, in letters ;)

Does anyone know if it is possible to get telecom to send links to pxts to 6585's like they do for alot of phones with cameras. Alot of the Telecom "PXT" phones does actually receive the image directly but instead receive a link that opens the photo in the Minibrowser. Its bad enough that Telecom disabled the MMS capabilities of this phone so they should at least have this service as a compromise, no?

It was being talked about, and I think that it was also a topic on here some time ago..
I see no reason why any of tyhe series 40 Nokia handsets should not be able to view the pic over WAP like other handsets. You would just need a link sent to you over SMS. Prehaps "Jama" might be able to give us more info on this.

Hi Foxten,

My software version is H101V0301.nep, this has the same format that you have mentioned.
Does exists same way to upgrade the phone software??
Have you a solution for the MMS problem, using JAVA?
