Based on previous discussions, this seems to be the thing we've all been waiting for. Sadly, we are still waiting.

I've just been looking at Nokia's local web site and it seems that there is a model called 6255 in the pipeline. Unfortunately, the product information link on the local web site doesn't seem to work, but if you view it from http://www.nokia-asia.com, then you can see that this handset does feature Bluetooth.

Does anyone have the inside word on how far away this model might be, or whether there are any other bluetooth enabled handsets on the horizon?

I was told yesterday that there's no Bluetooth coming on TNZ CDMA. But this wasn't official. Anyone else?

Yeah with the recent announcement of T3G I'd imagine that Telecom will put less effort into getting higher-spec'd CDMA phones to market. They now have a few camera phones to compete with the most obvious Voda benefit (note to flamers: I said 'most obvious'), and everything else (bluetooth, PC sync, etc) I would imagine are not highly demanded by consumers.

If a business user says "I want a bluetooth phone for web browsing from my laptop", they'll probably say either a) "get a CDMA PC card" (they're basically throwing GTRAN Dotsurfer cards at our company), or b) "wait for T3G which will have bluetooth phones".

Ok, some more juicy details... It seems that a Pocket PC Phone Edition, codenamed HTC Harrier is on the cards. Can't confirm dates or cost yet, but it's similar to what Sprint is said to announce soon in the US, and it's in the same form factor as the CU928 (CDMA, launched in China). Very nice!

HTC Harrier

From our article on the CU928: "The new Pocket PC uses an Intel PAX265 400MHz CPU and the Qualcomm MM5500 for the radio part. It comes with 64MB RAM and 64MB ROM, it has 240x320x64K pixel TFT-LCD display and a 300 pixels camera. It also supports IrDA and Bluetooth. Unlike other converged devices on the market, it supports a full slide-down keyboard and full-screen handwriting input."

And wait for a Nokia phone with Bluetooth too.

That's good news.

For me, getting a PC card would not work because my laptop has no PCMCIA slot and infrared is not an option because I can't find any USB-infrared adaptors which will work with a Macintosh. I would therefore need to have Bluetooth.

Heh do what I did and switch to Vodafone.

Slower connection, but I literally had to wade through the bluetooth phones when deciding what to buy :D
