Hi,
As requested I'll start a new thread. I'm trying to use GPRS to connect to the internet using my Chinamobile SIM. However wasn't aware that you needed to activate your account. My friends here didn't tell me. I located a page with the settings http://www.taniwha.org.uk/gprs.html which I used in the past. However whenever I use my computer to connect, I get a GPRS error.

I haven't been able to locate the WAP and general GPRS profiles as most of the information is in Chinese and my friends have been unable to help me in this aspect. So I was wondering whether anyone has had experience in setting up GPRS on Chinamobile and to point me in the direction in which to get it activated and to get the GPRS settings.I know GPRS works on the phone and computer as I have used Vodafones GPRS on my Vodafone SIM which has roaming currently, however the GPRS usage costs while roaming are quite excessive in my opinion.

This is a bit brief I agree, and this is my second post here but I am hoping I'm not too green to ask for help ;)

Thank you for reading this, for your time and patience,

CM

Check that you do have GPRS enabled on your account.

The GPRS configuration is in this thread. Post any follow ups back on this one.

I haven't activated it then, assumed that it was activated by default like Vodafone. I'll try and get my girlfriend to (as she speaks Chinese x20 better than I do).

The OS X Bluetooth-SE script that I use (also from the site that I posted above) only asks for APN/Username/Password. It doesn't present an option to put in a string.

I'll try and get it activated - I'll post the findings.

Thanks again,

CM

My girlfriend managed to call their support number and was able to activate GPRS. Aparently I have to wait now.
Got the GPRS profiles from a friend, just trying to get those to work.

CM

Edit: It works :)
