I'm in the Hutt and pick it up fine. Maybe contact freeview about it, as it may not be available everywhere in NZ.

Sorry guys,
I was on two weeks vacation for personal (and enjoyable) reasons.

At this point we are limited to what is physically in the EPG data stream provided by Freeview NZ.
Beyond that, there are the contractual requirements with each station.

That aside, just having been made aware of Sommet, and the fact it still appears to be in testing, I have no further information for you at the moment.

Danny

Looking at Dan's comment above where he says "At this point we are limited to what is physically in the EPG data stream provided by Freeview NZ." As the Freeview EPG has the listings for TV9 and the TiVo (at least my TiVo) does not, I wonder if we can score those listings as well.

Dan. I know your still here as you answered this question today http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=114&topicid=120939 Why won't you answer the one about when Sommet Sports is going to be available on the TiVo??

It seems to be available via a hidden channel on some regions but not on others..

Old3eyes

Doing an add channel on Tivo shows Sommet sports on but there is nothing but a blank page. When selecting 114 says channel not available, very frustrating as I can watch sommet sports transmission test on 2x TV's with builtin Freeview, + 1 TV with a cheap decoder that cost$59.00. I live in Ashburton NZ

TIVO is not freeview.  There is no obligation for TIVO to do anything really as things change as they're not formally in NZ anymore.  We're just lucky some company is still providing some level of support to include this new channel and are still bothering to supply the EPG data etc.

We chose to opt for a system that is now no longer available for retail purchase anymore.  We're also probably out of warranty periods from shops for an comeback, unless you really want to push the consumers guarantees act.  Technically though TIVO IS still showing the content available when you purchased it, so in some ways you can't say it's failed, only that it's failed to keep up with future developments.  Even harder to argue if you purchased through Bond and Bond...

If Dan does return to this particular thread, I'd be keen to know more about Hybrid, in fact maybe I should start a separate thread on that.  I'm interested in where Hybrid is based, how long they intend to be around, if they have any plans to introduce a newer TIVO model, or if they are employed by TIVO international/Australia to provide the EPG service over here etc, etc.
