Are you certain you cannot get to the 2FA settings?

Under Settings -> Security & Login -> Two Factor Authentication -> Use two factor authentication -> Edit

Then you can add a new app or turn off. Or select an alternative/backup approach.

That is through the web UI. Not tried the phone TBH but I'm assuming you're using the web as you said you reset your phone.

Off topic I appreciate, however, your experience is a reason I moved away from Google for MFA.  I use Bitwarden though you dont have to use that - I would suggest you use something that allows you to backup your db, sync across devices and/or is available online (like Bitwarden).

Ahhhhh no. it would appear If you have been 'selected' . It does indeed enable it and not allow turning off.. and 2FA is enforced for it.

'Everyone'? Does not appear so yet

Facebook Protect helps these high-target accounts

They told me I was being transferred to the 2FA because of the number of postings I make.

I run a few pages and have not been targeted. And going by replies here, not many others have either.

The example footer I expect means there's sure something up in your routines.

I'm having similar problems with Facebooks 2FA since having to enable 'Facebook Protect'.

Mine's set to send a SMS code for its 2FA, however I'm unable to receive any SMS from Facebook. I'm logged in to my account no problem, but I can't change any settings in my Business Manager (or disable/modify 2FA in my account).

Speaking to Business support, they reckon SMS should come from 32265, however a bit of Googling leads me to believe the number for NZ should be 3223.

Has anyone been able to receive or send a SMS from/to these numbers lately? Or know what's happened with this service in NZ?

Spoken to Spark and they reckon it's not their issue. Likewise trying to get help from anyone at Facebook is nigh on impossible, other than being told to 'report a problem' which I've done multiple times.

I am using google authenticator for my 2 factor as I dont trust SMS and telcos for something that I need to use often. No problems at all with it.

Yep and if I had the choice I'd use Google Auth too. I'm not really sure how 2FA SMS came to be active on my account - I certainly didn't intentionally enable it. Regardless, that doesn't really help my issue (or the OP's).
