The message displayed now says "Due to unforeseen technical problems we have postponed further activity on the website." Two things (at least) about that statement.

- They weren't unforeseen to anyone who knew what they were doing
- The issues were more than technical. It is a management issue about how the owners went about this process. Not enough (any?) due diligence on the developers, little or no understanding of what it takes to built a web-site, and more importantly, a lack of understanding of the importance of security, privacy, fraud and so on. Sure the technical implementation of the site has been inept, but I would look further up the management chain for the real reasons for the failure.

I would love to have a look at the user quality acceptance testing that went on with this.....
Someone should have been trying to break it.....

or maybe there simply was none.........

Well, it seems like they are (finally) doing the right thing.  Better late than never.

I'm guessing since logging in (or even trying to create an account) broke it....the second option

Seriously? They plan to fix their problems by sending more development work offshore?

It's written: fail.

The question is: Why are they learning nothing from the previous FAIL?

Well this is worth repeating. Are they really hiring and managing their own development team over there like it would indicate below?

This is getting crazier by the minute - or is it that outsource firms advertise using the names of the company they are contracted to?

BraaiGuy: I remember when I first arrived in NZ and used trademe for the first time. My first impression was hmmmm Identical to www.bidorbuy.co.za, a local south african auction site.

That's because one of the Trade Me guys worked on the ZA site. More likely the ZA site was similar to the NZ site than the other way around.

f1guy: www.tradeit.es Now that is what I would really call a clone of trademe.

wow!!! Who copied who I wonder?
Or are all these auction websites just buying off the shelf templates? Laughing

Who knows, but the intergrated Facebook log in just makes sense to me.

I wonder how long it's going to be before you just use fb to log into everything but your bank.

D

I can't tell you how little I like that idea. Worst idea ever. Facebook is Satans tools!
