i'm doing a project that needs a small pressure release valve and it happens to be about the same pressure as the moka pots over pressure valves. however i don't see any company selling them for their own brand.

does anyone have a contact in the coffee world that can lay their hands on a few? trying to go good known source rather than aliexpress etc

i have some old moka pots which i could take the valve out of, but they are different threads and i would like to get a few spares.

Normally, you get them from this brand even they are not listed. Maybe just ask them: https://www.bialetti.co.nz/collections/spare-parts

I'm sure you're smart enough to know this but when these things explode expect your entire kitchen to be painted by coffee and if you're in the vicinity to be burned.

Speaking from experience. Picture it: coffee on everything and slowly creating stains on anything permeable. The shock of it hides the pain from any burns for a few minutes whilst you're trying to decide where to start cleaning.

Never again.

ouch.

its not coffee related, sadly. the machine has other safeties built into it anyway and its not being used as a safety valve.

These are (safety) overpressure valves for the lower water reservoir in case the water cannot be forced upwards through the coffee powder.

The container can only explode if these valves do not move freely (which is why you should regularly wiggle the nipple to prevent this) - but otherwise they open in any case. The valve covers a wide variety of jugs with different volumes, i.e. the exact pressure value is not of great relevance (around 2.5 bar).

Not sure of the brand but it was from Briscoes, of a brand they no longer stock. The actual aluminium didn't crack and rupture rather it shot out all the coffee

Strange. The Bialetti part no. is 5028

(However, I must mention that I am not in NZ.)
