Its full of junk from the house at the moment, so imagine a shed with too much crappy furniture in it in the way.

I recently bought a ceiling load of R3.6 earthwool blanket direct from: http://www.earthwoolglasswool.co.nz/BuildForNextGen/buy-insulation-online/

This may be cheaper than bunnings, not sure though.

I did the same, they have specials from time to time, so was cheaper than Bunnings at the time.

Big warning on those R3.6 rolls.  When you cut the wrap off the roll in the ceiling space, they expand... a lot.  Then they keep expanding.

Fairly low pitch roof at our place, first roll I opened kind of wedged itself nicely - while I'm looking at it screaming "WTF!!!"  It looks so easy on "DIY youtube video" but was one of the nastier jobs I've done in recent years.

Instead of a shed, we have a basement.  I had a clean out a couple of weeks ago, two high-side 8 x 4 1/2 trailer loads of stuff that I once thought was too good to throw away, $150 in dump fees, two days hard slog to sort and dump it all.

Resolution to never let it happen again, but it probably will...

I've also just had a shed clear-out, and am in the process of repairing the rot in the shed. Not sure how the thing was standing, given the number of studs that have rotted completely through.

+1 for Greenstuf, if you can get it in the right size. Much nicer to work around than glasswool products.

I've been tidying out my garage. Just need an attic and we'll have the complete kiwi junk storage set!

Knauff earthwool is good stuff, not to mention about half the price of pink batts (per square meter).

The rolls are about half the coverage/size of the batt bags.

The compression ratio seems to be higher than pink batts - so be careful where you open it

It's more dusty than pink batts but less irritating

My builders found heaps of rot under where the windows were in mine because idiots that built it origionally didnt use flashings, just some silicone between joinery and crappy hardies boards.

Not good... Mine was more a total lack of maintenance by the previous owner(s). The shed is a 1930/40s state house era, with bevelback weatherboards, and has held up very well considering. When we bought the house, the ground level had been built up right to the cladding, and was completely overgrown (there was literally an agapanthus growing out of the weatherboards). Roof was also leaking at nail holes. So, rotten weatherboards, bottom plate, studs and top plate in places.

We also used to have a 1950's garage, which suffered from a similar lack of maintenance. It had a couple of inches of soil built up on the roof, with a bushy plant all over it. The framing looked ok from the inside, but we took the fibrolite cladding off, we could see the studs had completely rotted on the outside face. Someone had also backfilled about half a metre against the cladding on one side, with predictable effects. Sadly now demolished.
