Wills1:Really high prices tonight!
TonyS071:Wills1:Really high prices tonight!
Have any other Flick customers noticed that the Flick app really struggles to serve up the current power price after a notification has been sent out? I sat for 2 or 3 minutes this evening waiting for an answer without actually getting any, and tonight wasn't the only time this has happened for me.
Ironically, the app is only too happy to serve up the CO emission data during these times.
Is Flick running its price database or SLB on underpowered hardware all the time, or do they turn the wick on the VMs down to save $ during the price spikes?
High demand. It will often come down to a more reasonably number within 3-5 days.
Rappelle:droopanu: Anyone knows what happened on Saturday around 6pm?
I believe 15$/kwh is a bit too much....It hit $95000/MWh on my node.. Nearly crapped myself when I saw the email
There might have been an infeasability - in other words the complex maths that automaticly calculates the prices at each node could have jammed. If this happens really high default prices are used. Their purpose is to cause more generation to come online, and loads to be reduced. HVDC load was over 800MW, so could have been localised overloading in lower north island.
Have a read of this document
If it was an infeasability, the price will change to a more normal amount when the final prices are set.
droopanu: Looks like they had to power on the diesel power plant
Flick website seems to be prediction a big spike starting soon. EM6 looks fine though, still quite low prices.
Low user vs Standard: is it anyone here that is standard? The difference of $1.4/day is so significant that it's likely to chew all the potentials savings compared to other companies.

I am a standard user, you might like to include your area, in terms of the difference between standard and low user in Canterbury it is about 89c. And yes I believe I would get that back through lower unit costs.

Oops, sorry. It's wellington here and it's 30c vs 171.66c, so it's $1.4166 a day.
