Don't discount them because HN only have one model. It will be good, but expensive.

Don't expect discounts on them either. Miele is sold on consignment I think (ie. Harvey Norman do not own the stock). Like Apple, their margin will be very tight, and they probably don't get a rebate.

Other than that, not much else I can really add. We have a F&P Dishdrawer. 7 years old now, going well. Cleans well (if you stack it right - don't put stuff in that stops the arm going round but that applies to all dishwashers). Don't get a Smeg - housesat for a place that had Smeg appliances for a few months and the dishwasher was the biggest POS I've ever used.

Have owned several Bosch Until finally buying a Miele on Special.

The Bosch were generally good but the Miele cleans better,is much quieter and has proven far more reliable and feels more solid and better built.

Miele sell direct and have an online store. and the price is not much more than a Bosch.

Given my experience I consider Miele to be excellent value.

Another option, and what we have now is a Beko

They're a Turkish brand, but are pretty good so far.

Price is no issue. The one model at HN was $1277 os sale. If Miele is a good brand that possibly a low end model? My concern was why only one model? Id prefer three models, 1200, 1500 1800.

totally agree, I am expecting a minor fault on my Miele in 20.5 years time. I bought my second-ever Miele after 26 years and no faults.

I draw the line at 19 years, Im harsh on that.....

We got a Miele (the same one that's currently on special) recently from HN as a replacement for a rubbish F&P. Huge improvement in cleaning ability, sound level, and water usage. It's a superb piece of kit, the cutlery tray is a PIA to load but fantastic to unload, it took a bit of getting used to not rinsing the dishes before loading them but the outcome is fantastic. Overall we are very happy with it - highly recommended.

Bosch or Miele. Bosch had a lot of wash cycle options and it was enticing.

But we went with a Miele about 6 months ago. Decided the fewer options the less that could go wrong.

And does it work well! And quiet!

For dishwashers, I would go Miele. There isn't a huge cost difference, considering the quality, compared to other good brands like Bosch. Bosch is ok and have one that is 8 years old. Although the soap dispenser sometimes doesn't clip properly.

We have a Beko washing machine. Replaced a Panasonic front loader (that we left in another house for the new occupier). The Beko IMO is better than the Panasonic. Happy with it so far (Had it a year).

As for the Miele dishwasher at HN - $1277 is a good price. That would be the one I would be buying. It seems Miele only have one Underbench DW in NZ.

We have a Beko induction stove. It's fine, the stovetop is great, but it doesn't feel as refined as it could. It works well, makes things hot as it should.

The touch controls are ok. The shelves are below average. The build quality is ok. It just doesn't feel like a top quality product. But at around 1/2 to 2/3 the price of a Bosch, that's not too surprising.

I know it's not a dishwasher, but wanted to comment on Beko.

Update. Got an ok deal with a funny story and a happy ending

Got a Bosch Series 6 $1674, down to $1574 today. Extra 2 year warranty for $60 but turned that down for obvious reasons, but that was thrown in. We have over $1200 in hotpoints and that was a problem. Cant do it, only online, so suggested I buy online then they can finish it off in store. Really weird as when we redeemed them they were for HN. So down I sat on me fone. When I said to the wife, do these cards have numbers (for adding to the cart once done), then they said, oh you have redeemed them? Misunderstanding. But by then Id gone to the dishwasher online webpage, it was $1495, so got it for that. Didn't get the extra 2 years but thats not relevant.

I liked the Miele, felt it was a tickle nicer inside, but only 14 place. No idea if that would really matter or not compared to the 15 place we got.

Top tray is great, as is the adjustable top shelf, I guess these are normal features now though.

Edit, and thanks for the advice given. Otherwise it would probably have been what looks nice.

Given my experience I consider Miele to be excellent value.

Miele were also voted top brand in dishwashers by Consumer.

That is actually not necessarily true. An Extended warranty may give you protection above and beyond what the CGA does. For example, we bought a kettle, they threw in the extra warranty free. It gives us immediate replacement of a suitable or better device on the spot. We have already used this once, when we had an issue with it. We took it back, they gave us another on the spot. The entire process took under 5 minutes. They were entitled to take it and test it which would have left us with no kettle for a few days at least.

What an extended warranty is not, is a replacement of your basic rights under law. This doesn't mean they don't have value. They are NOT allowed to represent an extended warranty as performing the same functions as your basic consumer rights.

Extended warranties may also cover your device for a longer period than even consumer says it should be covered.
