Ended up getting the Bosch Blue GCM 8 SDE from Mitre 10.

https://www.bosch-pt.co.nz/nz/en/products/gcm-8-sde-0601B19240

Pretty nice little unit. Selling at Mitre 10 for $899, with a free Bosch stand. Bunnings have it for $799 inc stand. Mitre 10 gave me 15% off Bunnings price (similar stocked item at competitor) even though it's not a normally stocked item (special order only).

Ended up costing me $679 with the free stand included. Six year warranty. Spent more than what I initially wanted but am pretty happy with the purchase.

Look good. What's the second handle on the top for? Just carrying it around or some clever trick Bosch engineers have invented?

Yeah pretty sure it's just for carrying, definitely helps to lug it around.

That's a pretty good price especially being the trade version!

Also helpful for sliding cuts through wider material.

I bought one of the Ryobis a few years ago and its given me great service.

Its not as precise as some of the more $$ units, but at the price point its pretty good value

Ozito stuff at Bunnings is really good value and quality. Ozito was bought out by a german company Einhell. The Ozito Power X Change is all rebadged Einhell sold in Australia & New Zealand. Einhell only bought Ozito so they could gain access to Bunnings.

+1 for Einhell, I've got pre-Ozito Einhell gear as well as Ozito-branded Einhell. They were one of the pioneers of the designed in Europe, made in China thing, which pretty much all the others do too now only they're less open about it. I've opened some of the Einhell (pre-Ozito) gear up and it's surprisingly good quality, in fact better than some big-name stuff I've looked at, e.g. proper LiIon charge controllers rather than something barely above a dumb trickle charger with a temperature cut-out. They also think about their designs, e.g. the sanders which have plates where you can cut your own sanding pads from full sheets rather than paying a fortune for proprietary vendor-specific pads.

sorry to dig up an old thread, but im also in the market for a sliding mitre saw to do some DIY around the house. Not looking for anything fancy, but do want something that will last.

Looking at Bunnings/Mitre10 I see the following options, and would like peoples thoughts on these 3

https://www.mitre10.co.nz/shop/bosch-green-mitre-saw-1800-watt/p/326306

https://www.bunnings.co.nz/aeg-254mm-2000w-slide-compound-mitre-saw_p00239442

https://www.bunnings.co.nz/ryobi-2000w-mitre-saw-and-stand-combo_p00087278

does anyone have experiences with any of these 3?

Did you end up buying one? I'm in the same boat, online reviews are hit and miss as with most things. I'm tempted with bosch as it appears middle of the road, looked at the B&W which was next to it but seemed to have much more play in the blade. AEG would be great but starting to climb in $$.

yep I ended up biting the bullet and shelling out for the AEG. Read lots of reviews of the ryobis and Bosch and they just weren't good. At the end of the day, I wanted a mitre saw to make straight flush cuts, and if its not going to do that, you may as well just use your skill saw!

Went with the bundle that came with the work bench which was an extra $50 ($300 by itself). Been great so far, and pretty easy to carry around as well.

I built my deck myself, around 50m2 and used the Ryobi from Bunnings for $350 odd and it was more than capable.. considering I was going in to get a DeWalt and the shop assistant talked me out of it.
