Got a Bosch, been going strong for 5 years now.

Previously had a F&P double dish drawer, double trouble, stay clear of these.  Went to a single draw Haeir / F&P that last only a few years. useless.

The Bosch has been faultless, quiet and only issues when stacked incorrectly.

We lived with my inlaws while building and I found their dish-drawers terrible; equally I have workmates who love them, but I found them really noisy, cramped inside and would only clean well if perfectly stacked.

They do seem to be used by lazy people who can't be bothered unpacking the dishwasher. I have seen flats that basically store their clean cutlery and dishes in on, and the dirty ones go in the other.. Maybe that is one of the benefits of them.

It's more a case of trial and error. In my case, I was trying to save rinse aid so kept dialling back the dosage to the lowest at which the dishes were still dry and streak free. In your case it might be dial up the rinse aid as high as possible, and gradually dial it down

I got a Miele G6620SCU last year and have been very happy with it. The cutlery tray and baskets are great.

It has a salt dispenser for softening water if it is necessary. The manual says to contact the water company as they should know, although even Auckland water is soft enough. The salt itself is cheap from Miele.
