So after a fair bit of back and forwarding, Bosch have agreed to replace our faulty dishwasher.

It's our second and we didn't love our first, or the loan one we got while they worked out what was up with our one.

The immediate replacement of our one is this

I wasn't going to consider another Bosch because we haven't had a great experience, however, the reviews say it's excellent which making me wonder. We like the internal configuration of Bosch Dishwashers. It's rated very quiet too which is a bonus.

Miele and Asko also rate highly, though the Miele is probably a $500 upgrade on top, or even more. Miele don't go on sale very often either if ever.

I have no experience with Asko.

I am keen to know what models you guys have and any experience. Things we care about is how well it cleans and drys, how noisy it is. Cost isn't our primary concern. I'd be keen to hear of others service experiences as this is relevant.

Have you read the other threads on this topic? How about the Consumer Magazine reviews? Consumer says Miele G , Akso L / D, Couple Bosch models, and surprisingly few much cheaper Haier models.

Asko went through a terrible period where the units were slapped together (when the ownership changed a while back).

I owned one and it sounded like a 747 taking off in the kitchen! There was a very nice stainless cavity though! The spinning arm actually snapped off mid-wash too.

So yeah, not a huge fan.

We are going Miele next time, we got a washing machine and it is better than any other we have had. . They seem to rotate their sales between product types. . It appears that the deals come from Miele directly as we get the deals sent in the post. If anyone happens to see a deal on the dishwashers please post it here.

We have 2 Bosch that effectively differ only in price and sound level. Once going they are just machines that squirt hot water and the chosen detergent around. The times we have poor cleaning can usually be traced to poor stacking that has stopped an arm from rotating. The later one has a sensor that detects how dirty the water is. I think that primarily allows rinse water to be used to wash but might vary temperature and time. If that was faulty I'd imagine that results could get unpredictable.

We're on our second Bosch and I wouldn't consider another brand - both have been excellent. We also have a F&P and it is a shocker - in build quality (flimsy baskets), loading (you have to be careful stacking big plates) washing (not cleaning fully, not drying properly).

Second Bosch for us too and i’d buy another. Pulled out an F&P as soon as we moved into the current house - it sounded like a bag of hammers.

We got a Bosch recently, not as flash as the OP's, about $1800. Super quiet. I thought it was an out of box failure when using it first time. Works great, has that sensor thing

I would never have anything other than what I have had in my last two homes - a pair of single F&P dishdrawers, one either side of the sink, directly under the bench top.

I've heard of reliability issues but had none myself. In the 10 years I had my first pair the only maintenance they ever required was replacement rotors - a $50 part I replaced myself. Current pair have been going over a year, no issues.

They are just so damn convenient. Pull open, load and go. You can run a regular sized wash in one, or if you have had a big party, load both. No stooping down to open, stooping down to pull out the try, stooping down to load.

And they are - almost inaudible. Does a good job, but like any dishwasher, you have to load it correctly.

Have a conventional F&P dishwasher at the beach house - can't stand the ergonomics of it (but it does a good job).

I'm in the dish-drawer camp. Had double units for years. Currently have single in the aprtment

The only fault I've ever experienced was the stuck float on the flood sensor. F&P's service agent replaced these for free with solid state sensors so that was problem solved. We replaced ours when we upgraded the kitchen and the newer models are much quieter. Good good price for the old one on TM too. My only criticism is that the eco-mode doesn't clean or dry as well. But that seem to be par for the course for eco-modes on dishwashers

Currently have a miele (came with) in the house which is reliable but noisy, slow and doesn't dry well. Anything plastic has to be hand dried.

We have a SMEG dishwasher that we got from KitchenThings about years back and it has been rock solid since.

Ill have to find the model number at home, but we like the cutlery tray at the top, instead of the conventional basket (although it did come with the basket too which was really nice)

Always washes the dishes well, we run it on a 1Hour 20Min cycle.

Nice and quiet too, can run it and barely hear it.

Cutlery trays are a good idea. One of my "small things that annoy me" items is people loading cutlery into the dishwasher carelessly - so the spoons are spooning, jamming oversized tongs amongst the cutlery etc. It all leads to dirty cutlery and those trays prevent this by keeping the items separate.

Although I haven't had it long, I have an underbench middle/high end Westinghouse and it is staggering how quiet it is. If I am in the kitchen looking at it with no-one else talking I can tell it's on. If I am 5 metres away in the lounge watching TV at the quietest volume I can comfortably hear, then I can't tell the dishwasher is on.

It also gets stuff clean - I do have to enable the 'extra drying mode' but that's no big issue.
