DS248:
Sure. Even available here in NZ but price (NZ) is not pretty
I bought one locally from Lighting Plus last weekend for an outside fitting high up on the house. Was recommended by them after I showed them a photo of the position of the fixture. Cost $35 for a 9w J118 bulb :(
But when I got home I realised it was non-dimmable and only about half the lumens of the existing halogen bulb. Would have been too low powered for the position of the light. Fortunately had not opened the packet so was able to take it back.
Have instead purchased three off eBay - about a quarter of the cost (~NZ$9 each incl delivery) for a 20w dimmable bulb (~1600 lm)! Given the eBay prices, I also ordered another six J78 bulbs for internal lights. Cost for these is ~NZ$5.50 each (12w, ~1000 lm, dimmable). Electricity cost for the remaining life of the existing 100w halogen bulbs will far exceed the cost of the LED bulbs.
Only ordered a couple of days ago so not tested yet. Not expecting any issues though (all 220v). Potentially up to a month before they arrive but not an issue as still have working halogen bulbs in the fittings.
One point to be aware of. The LED bulbs have a larger diameter (19mm for ones I bought) than the halogen equivalents. Not a problem for our light fixtures though - plenty of space around the bulbs.
Hundreds of options on eBay. eg. https://www.ebay.com/sch/Light-Bulbs/20706/i.html?Type=LED&_dcat=20706&rt=nc&Bulb%2520Shape%2520Code=R7s.
The 118mm ones I bought were from this place http://www.ebay.com/itm/152631115056
Bought the 78mm from a different place but the specs for them are identical to the 78mm bulbs on the above site.
The bulbs I bought were 'warm white' (2700-3300K). Would have preferred 4000k but very few available for this type of bulb - not certain I found any that were 220v and dimmable.
Now that I've measured, went to the site to buy -
What's the difference in quality / build between dimmable and non dimmable? Mine is non dimmable but want to buy the "better" version. Which to buy? Measured 78mm. WOuld like it as yellow as possible (yellow as in incandescent yellow)
