My friend tried to sign up with my code but got this message, anyone else had this?

Area was: Dunedin, she was attempting to move from Flick
Maybe they are currently struggling with demand from flick customers

timmmay: I think a fuse or similar on the pole outside our house blew. There's a guy up a ladder fixing it now. They don't notice localised faults.

I probably put a 45A load on, it blew about 20 mins into my free hour of power. The guy said that shouldn't be a problem. Will find out more when he's down from the pole.

When things go wrong is when you most need help. We have a few outages per year here, probably because of old overhead lines.

Doing some ethereum mining ;) I don't even think I can draw that much power here. All our lines are underground too.

Actually load may have been as high as 53A. Heat pumps, hot water, clothes drier, dish washer, under floor heating. Fuse holder outside was scorched. Probably a fault. The high load probably didn't help.

My switch to Electric Kiwi has happened. Flick now shows that I am not a customer and the EK portal is saying they're still setting me up - been told it can take a day or two.

I'm going to miss Flick, they were a great company.

@michaelmurfy as of 1530 we have joined you! Portal is all setup and (so far) feels a lot more peppy that Flick's. Looking forward to having the heater on this evening.

Quick Q for anyone in the know: under the Hour of Power it says "Any change before midnight will be active for that day." and that a change is effective immediately. Does this mean we can change this at say 2200 retrospectively for the same day (estimate our usage every night and change it accordingly). May well have been covered already - too lazy to hunt right this second.

Yes any change applies to the same day. So change it now to midday and it will apply for the midday just gone, say day. I just asked EK on chat.

Champion, thanks. That certainly adds an extra bit of flexibility.

Yes, mine went through this afternoon also. Seems that my billing on EK started on Monday (26th) so that means this week will be on their pricing hopefully.

With a smart meter is there any reason why Electric Kiwi only allows me to see my power details up till the 27th?

So it's effectively two days behind :|

Been with Electric Kiwi for a year next week. I can say that the novelty of the free Hour of Power does not diminish!

Have tripped the fuse in the meter box a few times, and blown the fuse on the pole a couple of times! Try to keep the usage under 15 kW/h.

15kW/h is 62.5A (I think). The pole fuse here is 60A, though I think ours may be on the smaller side. I think we're best at 12kW/h or less in that hour.

I think it's more like ~65 Amps for 15KW so knocking it back to 12KW drops it to ~52 Amps.
