I don’t understand the hate for the cutlery tray? Best invention ever. The basket just gets in the way of larger plates and pots on the lower tray.

Impressed with the 29 year Miele, did it need any repairs in that time? Our Bosch 6 series is 10 years old and has been repaired 3 times for things like minor leaks and handle coming off, next time there's any problem it's being replaced. We'd get another Bosch. Wash cycle options from an hour to three hours, not sure what the default is but I use the 2 hour 5 min heavy cycle mostly.

Yes - it did need a bit of DIY.  The water supply solenoid failed after 15+ years, and rather than pay hundreds for a Miele replacement I dropped in a $70 one from the Irrigation Warehouse.  More recently the plastic clip holding the top washer arm crumbled, so I improvised a metal spring clip to replace it.  The detergent dispenser door also eventually broke, but that was no big deal as it was possible to wedge a dish tablet in and that worked fine.  Other than that the only problem we had was that a couple of times it got stuck on pumping out, which Google helped me solve - there's a drip tray under the machine that has a level switch on it, and it must have been very slowly accumulating water, possibly just condensation.  Once emptied with a syringe and piece of tube it would run fine again for years.

Fingers crossed the new one we have on order is this reliable!

Steals space especially height and is slow to load. I do like that it stops the damaging rattling and prevents spooning.

A lot seem to want height for stemmed glasses. For day to day use and dishwasher compatibility stemless glasses for the win.

But my Chardonnay gets warm too fast if I am holding it in a stemless glass. Oh, the humanity!
