Just rejoined Flick from EK.

It was as simple as clicking the "rejoin flick now" button in the email, and then confirming the details on the flick website. 2 Clicks - Done!!!

It's always a risk for any company that is not putting it's customers onto fixed term contracts.

Back when I was with Powershop, a door to door sales agent who was working for mercury energy came to my house. He offered a $50 signup credit and no fixed term contract. I switched to Mercury, they installed a smart meter, I got the $50 credit. Then I switched back to Powershop the next month.

It would have been a big loss for mercury at the time. ($50 credit + commission paid to agent + smart meter install costs + admin expenses) But they are now getting 40c per day indirectly from me via metering fees charged to my power retailer.

I'm not switching back immediately. EK prices aren't bad, free hour is great, and I suspect bill would be similar in winter due to lots of heating in free hour.

When it warms up a bit more maybe. I'm a bit tired of watching rates and having to time shift.

Ok, ill bite.

I was on Genesis, about 24.5c after discount, 30c per day after discount. Im now at EK, 23c and 84c

So 10c sounds great. I recall the daily was 91c, high but ok. So I will get 10c and 91c all day every day? (I know I wont but ballpark?)

No GST, so 11.5c?

The weekend prices are usually lower. Right now it's just under 10c. Our price during the week is usually around 15c per unit. At its worst the price wouldn't go below 20c and was usually around 30c. We actually had a brief price spike ($1 per unit) last week when there was a cold snap.

Here's a bill (28 August - 3 September) for you to analyse.

Last bill my average raw wholesale price was less than 6c per unit. So the savings are rolling back in for me. Last bill was $36.50 for 200 units. And a 24% saving. Next bill should be lower again.

Just found my rejoin email and was done in less than 30secs. Good job Flick for making it easy!

EK had some good things but also many other things that annoyed me (especially the usage graph compared to Flick). Also, I was paying quite a bit more per month than when I was on Flick normally.

Anyone in Wellington who makes moderate effort to reduce bills with things like time shifting able to post an average price for the past week?

I'm fine with EK, I make good use of the hour of power. Bills are fine. If Flick is a lot cheaper I might move back, but I really enjoy not paying any attention to when I use power.

We're in central Wellington, although we don't make any great effort to move usage as it's all fairly cheap at the moment. Here's a copy of our most recent usage (including GST and daily fixed charges). The final bill for that week was $45.10.

Spot prices are pretty steady throughout the day for us at the moment - here's a screengrab for Tuesday of this week:

Thanks @sparky1685 :) Is $41.05 your total price including daily fees and GST? If so that's 22.3c/unit overall.

I checked my last EK bill, it was 22.5c/unit. I think the effective rate will go up as we need less heating in the free hour, so Flick will be a touch better in summer, but I don't think it will be all that big a difference. Back when there were night rates there was a big difference.
