Hi guys. I'm about to fill gaps in skirting and architraves with No More Gaps but something struck me as a newbie. If there is a gap which only runs a small distance along the skirting is it standard practice to run the filler the entire length of the skirting or just in the gap?

Can you post a photo?

Painting no more gaps works ok but it comes out shiny. I tend to use a two part filler, but it sets quickly, then prime and paint. I have no idea what I'm doing in general, I learn by making mistakes. Lots of mistakes.

Photo example?

Painted gib walls or wood paneling?
Painted or varnished skirting?

If the skirting is not loose and the gap is 0.5 to 1mm....
I would wipe plaster of paris in the gap with my finger and wipe the surplus off with a cloth.

Really depends on the finish you want.

With our recent reno, I just used No More Gaps on the sections of scotia and skirting that needed it, then used just paint on the rest. The sections where I used No More Gaps remained looking good, but unfortunately some of the other areas cracked/opened up after a few months. I would guess this was just from the normal movement - being a timber house. So, if you have the time / inclination and want a really good looking finish, do the lot. Otherwise I would probably just do the big gaps and not worry about the rest.
