Just Wondering are there any restrictions on what you can use these for? I'm thinking of powering a (weatherproof) Irrigation controller from one.

Check your irrigation controller. As alot of them run on 24V AC. This means you can put it's plug pack / power supply inside. Connected to an existing power point. And just run some 24V wiring yourself to the controller.

Or get a 24V transformer permanently wired in.
