Stu1: List looks different than what's on the current trial e.g no Solo or last Jedi, hopefully we get decent content

Did you not see my post about the Gummi Bears?

Bouncing here and there and everywhere, they are the Gummi Bears.

Good to see the Gummi Bears on there. When I visited Disneyland/Disneyworld, the only reference go the Gummi Bears I could find was a few of them on a tiny poster with a large number of Disney characters. In late 2012 when I visited Chicago, the man at the Disney store hadn't heard of them and tried to tell me they weren't Disney characters.

Next time you visit Disneyland, look out for the disused lake between Matterhorn Mountain and It’s a Small World. This used to be a Gummi Bears boat ride years ago.

Are there still some issues around rights to the Marvel stuff? There are only a few of the Avengers movies. E.G Iron Man and Iron Man 3 but not 2. I would have thought they would want to have more of one of their premium brands at launch to generate interest.

Movie rights may be tied up in other package agreements, so are not instantly able to be untangled.

"Meanwhile, Sky has confirmed it will lose its Disney and Disney Junior channels from November 30, though some Disney movie titles across various Sky Movies channels, Neon, and Sky Box Office "well into 2020."

Cool, thanks. I wasn't aware such a thing ever existed. I always felt the Gummi Bears were an underappreciated Disney property.

Stu1: Wonder if it will have the new season of Vikings or lightbox has the rights. I will definitely try it over Christmas and summer school holidays. The offline download will be great for camping with the kids .

No. They won't be showing anything with a rating above PG-13. All R rated Disney material will be shown through Hulu, which (along with ESPN+) won't be available here. Hulu subscribers in the US will be able to have Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+ as a US$12.99/month bundle as well as having access to other add-ons such as HBO.

Rikkitic: If Disney Plus is really going to be available in NZ for $10/month, Sky can kiss its future goodbye. Netflix probably as well.

TBH, I don't think so. They'll definitely take hits, especially Netflix, but they both have material which Disney+ doesn't. I'm looking forward to the launch and will go for the one-year deal if it's offered here, but I do wonder how long they'll hold their prices below NZ$10.

I will probably start to alternate what services I pay for once I get thru the backlog that disney will bring of new stuff to watch. None of it on there is time critical to watch and often they do deals if you cancel and then come back with all these services.

Hopefully these services keep watch history when temporary quit.

Netflix does for about 9 months, haven’t tested with others.

I doubt Apple will though as when quit Apple Music they made a song and dance about losing playlists etc there, where YouTube premium kept my lists, so know which service went back to 😄.

And this morning I've received an email from Netflix to say they're putting their prices up. I was OK with $14.99/month, not so much with $16.99/month. I'll be having a good hard think about suspending (if possible) my account once Disney+ launches. Or maybe I'll have to stop the subscription altogether until such time as there's stuff I specifically want to watch. It'll be dependent on the rest of the family too...

Interesting. I haven't received said email maybe the price increase is specific to your plan? I'm on the UHD plan. I know my plan did increase maybe a month ago if they increase it again I'll be cancelling and moving to Disney+.

Sounds like the old price increase, it was in August price for standard Netflix went to $16.99.

Disney price is probably an introductory price to, wouldn’t be surprised if in a couple of years it starts heading towards $20.

Also weekly release of programs rather then all episodes at once will likely be more the case as well in my opinion.

yea as they add more original content its going up. The first price increase will probably come either mid to late next year with the release of Falcon & The Winter Soldier since they know heaps of people will sign up for that series or they'll do it in early 2021 after all the new signups.
