Spark have also suggested there are no plans to change the frame rate (for the EPL at least) due to device compatibility issues. That's pretty poor form as far as I'm concerned. Football needs 60fps to reduce judder from the moving ball. Without it, it's horrible to watch.

Agree, it was great. Sky looks good on my plasma, SS is a step up as its progressive, not interlaced. Watching Wimbledon wasnt fun, seeing the ball flit across the screen on off on off
I think the framerate issue will bite them. Sure some people will be happy to not have Sky to watch EPL but there will be a lot of people who want to watch the RWC who are used to SS framerates and will complain... I'm certainly noticing the issue in football games, like I did with premier league pass; which was a spark venture with colosseum.. a trend maybe?

Ok, seen your screenshots, I know that issue. First time I saw it, it looked like it covered most but not all the screen. Maybe optical illusion. That flicker is not all the time. When I have seen it, it wasn't all the time, it was on some but not all track cameras. Someone here from Spark confirmed it was in the feed. That makes sense as it was not on all cameras. I watched end of FP3 tonight, and qualifying and the race, and after race, I didn't notice it. The frame issue is there still.
Yeh it wasn't all the time it was mostly just on certain parts and certain cameras. Really that was in the world feed? I will have to check with someone I know it the UK who hopefully still has a recording of the race.
I noticed this weekend that the blacks don't have as many encoding errors this weekend. The black of the track at Austria and Britain was full of blocks and looked terrible. Didn't see it as much this weekend.
Damn - thank goodness I caught up on this thread.
Was just about to sub for the EPL for the new season - but if it's 30fps I reckon I'll not bother. Whats the point of having a modern 4K fast refresh rate TV if the source is going to limit input to 30fps?
The excuse of 'its so more devices can access it' is BS - it's more likely that it's less work for their servers to offer 30fps and therefore they can offer it to more people before the servers are overloaded.
Classic bait and switch - here try the service isn't it great? Oh, now we have a bunch of customers lets degrade it slowly and hope people don't notice...
Voting with my wallet.

I've not noticed those types of errors, block artifacts. If I saw an odd issue that was like once every 3 hours, Id write it off as the odd vagary. From day one its been very good, better than Sky's 1080i/60 as its 1080p/60. Not now though
My platform is iPad to Airplay, and now Apple TV4. I think some other platforms may have had other issues
How are you measuring FPS? Is it just an eyeball test?
Press F12 in Firefox and go to the network tab.

Hmm, I'm not sure. The article states:
The deal will allow Sky customers and commercial premises
But then the quotes tell the opposite story.
"We are pleased to be able to work together with Spark to deliver this alternative access option for our commercial customers, including those in rural areas who do not yet have access to fast enough broadband."
Edit: Grammar
Its commercial only. I assume pubs, clubs, motel/hotel accommodation. While they can all get up to speed streaming, Sky infrastructure is widespread in these businesses already
