that chart pretty much says the majority of people buying 1080p arent even getting benefit from it let alone those buying 4k TVs. Sure some people know they need to sit ultra close. But i think my 50" is about 10ft so Im really not seeing any benefit of 1080p vs 720p. Mind you most blue rays arent 1080p even when we go to the video store and streaming content sometimes gets blocky due to net fluctuations.

What is the deal with streaming netflix, lightbox etc, there isnt a settings button lightbox so how does it know how fast to stream at?

they both stream at the best quality your connection can handle. For majority of kiwis that means HD.

NonprayingMantis:
$10 (single stream, SD)  (2 months of the $10 gift card)
$15 (2 streams, HD)  (2 months of the $30 gift card)    (this is the same price as Lightbox for the same elements - 2 streams, HD)
$25 (4 stream, 4K)   (2 months of the $50 gift card)

How do they define SD and HD...

720p vs 1080?...

SD is 480p, unless you're Sky in which case its 288p.

Spark Max Fibre using Mikrotik CCR1009-8G-1S-1S+, CRS125-24G-1S, Unifi UAP, U6-Pro, UAP-AC-M-Pro, Apple TV 4K (2022), Apple TV 4K (2017), iPad Air 1st gen, iPad Air 4th gen, iPhone 13, SkyNZ3151 (the white box). If it doesn't move then it's data cabled.

Unbelievable ripoff. I'll be sticking with alternatives because 480p would be an amazing offer in the early 2000s

Doesn't look like they'll have quite as much competition soon.

Doesn't surprize me when everything they have  except for  a couple of Dr Who eps is in SD.  I only use them because the are on my TiVo and I am currently going thru the back catalog of Andromeda

Just checked our ~three year old Panasonic plasma and nothing there. Probably too old already anyway!

After the launch we should do a name and shame of the vendors who don't support their older/cheaper devices. I'm picking $100 panasonic blu-ray I bought last year won't get support even though the overseas variant has it.

Possibly.  I have used the UK samsung app on the Tv, however Amazon fire tv far superior, better interface and more responsive. So not to concerned if the NZ F series TV's dont get it as I wouldnt be using it anyway.
