Interesting review of Star Trek Discovery from a purist in Current Affairs magazine this week.. lots to agree with tbh, but it won't stop me watching it again when it comes back next year.

[edit: I should point out that it contains spoilers aplenty for those who haven't seen much]

Massive spoilers in there. The author misses many of the subtleties of Discovery. Doesn't seem like a purist to me and no spoiler warnings.

Star Trek showrunners replaced.

These kind of problems and worse occurred during the first run of Discovery. It appeared it was going to fail badly. Whatever happened, the result was just amazing. I'm still amazed. Not perfect, but oh so great.

OK Trekkies zip up your uniforms, grab your Communicators & Phasers and fire up the Transporter and lock on to the second season of Star Trek Discovery on Netflix on January 18th 2019. Yes it is back with 13 new episodes.

There are more teaser trailers on Youtube

S2 E1 = The crew of the U.S.S. Discovery joins forces with Captain Pike to unravel the mystery of seven mysterious red signals that have appeared across the universe.

EDIT: oops changed trailer

There's a series of 15 minute ST Discovery mini programs on YouTube featuring a cast member.

Also interesting to see that they have approved a spin off based on mirror Georgiou joining   Section 31.

http://trekcore.com/blog/2019/01/michelle-yeoh-to-lead-star-trek-section-31-series/

Now as fun as that sounds, I think its gonna be real hard to hang an entire season on a character that basically chewed the scenery...
