I am considering moving to a Chromecast Ultra as well, i have never been able to get Spark Sport running smoothly on my original gen Chromecast (before or after the change of frame rate). It regularly freezes up and just shows a mess of coloured pixels for 20-30 seconds and the resolution alternates constantly between pretty good through to totally unwatchable.
The change of frame rate made no difference whatsoever to performance so might be part of the rationale for moving back to 50/60. Has worked pretty consistently on my Samsung S10 throughout but even on that small screen the framerate drop was noticeable.
I cant be watching EPL games on my phone screen much longer so am keen to hear if the Chromecast Ultra works well (as well as it could with current FPS issues aside) i.e. no constant changes of resolution and freezing problems.
I have fibre and the router is about 1m away from the tv and chromecast (which has always worked perfectly with Netflix and other streaming services)

Same here and as per my recent post the CCu was very good. But I prefer the ATV4, as an STB with remote is "normal"

They work fine, I got one solely to test, its good. I cant pick between that and Airplay. On F1 which was 10/10, it was , well 10/10
Yeah but they can't do 1080p@60fps so out it goes

pretty sure ultras will do 1080p@60
"
Video codecs
Chromecast 1st and 2nd Gen.
VP9 Profile 0 and Profile 2 up to level 5.1 (2160p/60fps)
High Dynamic Range (HDR)"
I read it as the original can. Agree ultra can instead hence the upgarde to the ultra from the oringale which can only do 1080@30 (hence spark dropping to 1080@30)

Anyone having an issue with sound on the football being a second or two behind the video? Watching on the SamsungTV app.

Apparently there is no such thing as 1080p, its 1080i. And the 50/60fps is coming back soon

Spark sport is not interlaced.

is spark sport going to be released for android TV anytime soon? I have xiaomi box and TCL tv. Side loaded the existing app, but want official release so that I can complain/rant if anything is wrong for my RWC experience 😜
helping others at evgenyk.nz
Nope, its only on thier supported devices which are the freeview units and Sony I believe... official Android TV units will work with sideloaded as noted but will not get it from the play store; annoying as I want it officially on my shield so updates are easier than asking here for the latest APK.
