Stevereds: It was interesting watching the TV1 morning news highlights of the weekend's EPL matches.

The movement quality was terrible. I pity those of you trying to sit through a whole game of that!

Hoping Spark are true to their word and the higher frame rate kicks in next week

Is that issue apparent on the OD versions?

I assume you watched live? The OD or OnDemand versions will be the recorded version. A mate said the same as you, I was going to look tonight, and get hom also to look at the OD version as he watched live

OD Man Utd vs Palace was terrible, watched it sunday am at around 9... even the missus commented on how poor it looked for movement... I am hoping that spark can return to 60fps

It was just the short highlight clips on the news.... looked like a "dial up" broadcast from Timbuktu.....

Nope, its only on thier supported devices which are the freeview units and Sony I believe... official Android TV units will work with sideloaded as noted but will not get it from the play store; annoying as I want it officially on my shield so updates are easier than asking here for the latest APK.

If you side load it, do you manually need to update it too?

yep, it only updates if google play has it activated for your device... I haven't yet found an alternative store that has it and auto-updates... I generally ask here once the mobile version has been updated as it would tend to suggest a new version has been released... I am tempted to get a smart vu x for the lounge just for access to NZ only apps that I can then extract and shift on to the shields; I'll be in need of a 3rd device soon anyway and I don't need nvidia gamestream anymore so the shield becomes less important.

I can get the APK for you, as and when it is updated. I have it installed on a Sony Android TV, but use Kayo rather than SS.

When it updates, I can extract and pop it on a google or mega share.

I'm really not getting this. The CP and MUFC match was fine for me, the only problem was the result.

The ball zipping around is hideous, you can see the low screen update rate as the ball stutters around.  The players also do not seem smooth enough and you can see motion trails on them with their arms etc.  This is occurs on my LCD and plasma tvs, via the android TV app or casted from my mobile.  Nvidia Shields are wired to my 1gbe network so wireless only an issue for initial stream identification, after which the chrome cast pulls the stream from the wired network.

Hi Stevereds
Where did you find it spark intends updating the frame rate "next week"?

I wish there was a common place spark would release all this info on.

Hi Deano004

This was posted back on page 141 so I am assuming it is true. Apparently Spark Sport said it is going back to 60FPS but it wouldn't be in time for the weekend just passed so I am assuming it will be done by next weekend.......fingers crossed

"Spark Sport recently changed our framerate per second from 50/60fps to 25/30fps.

This decision was taken to ensure accessibility on a wider variety of devices.

But we’ve heard the feedback from customers loud and clear that New Zealanders don’t think the quality right now is up to scratch – and we agree.

We will therefore be changing back to a framerate per second of 50/60fps that will see a significant improvement in quality. Unfortunately, it won’t be in time for this weekend’s Premier League matches, but it’s coming very soon. "

Im not a soccer fan but before the frame saga happened, I felt soccer was low quality anyway. Same with the Rugby.

Im still seeing what you see, this on ATV4. I get better results with the Panny plasma Intelligent Frame creation on. But the ball motion blur is worse, the rest is better. I had ATV4 set to match frame rate to the source, thats better off, if you have a similar setting. Check F1 and WTA you should see them as better quality overall. The tennis ball is not smooth bit its nit motion blur its on off on off etc. F1, the cars are generally ok, the background is what judders.

I keep looking at sports on TV and just find that the whole thing is lowframerate hard to watch stuff. PC gaming spoils you for fluid motion free of artifacts.
