raspygold: What about support for XBMC or an Apple TV app? I've seen the questions pop up numerous times, but I don't remember seeing a definitive answer.

Airplay is possible with Apple TV, however an App is not. This is due to technicalities at Apple with respect to our streams. It's a compatibility issue that they don't seem at all fussed to fix.
Krishant007:samsmith:Krishant007: if any previous subscribers here are not intending to renew their subscriptions, could I get the code and get the discount? Wonderingly....
You need to have a registered email address from last season.
Fair enough. Thought I'd ask :). Will lookout for any deals on the season pass then.
Cheers
samsmith:invisibleman18: @samsmith
Is there any possibility of games console apps? I don't own a Samsung TV or Apple device so my only option to get it on my TV has been to connect my laptop to TV via HDMI, which isn't the best experience as there is a lot of motion judder. A playstation app would be ideal for me as I would no long have to do that or buy new equipment.
We had been in discussions with Xbox until the pulled the plug on Australasia...we have now opened talks with the PS development team, but it's not looking particularly hopeful for this season yet.
samsmith:Benoire: Any more news on the 2012 Samsung TVs? I am missing my footy but cannot stand to watch it in a browser, hate them. Also, are you able to now chose where to start a stream that is currently live? MediaPortal allows you to either start a channel stream at the beginning, a defined point OR at the live point. Last time I checked, you could only join a live game at the live point and not at the beginning which meant you could see the score. Can we now start at the beginning of the stream if I join a game at 5.30am that started at 5am?
Frustratingly we are still waiting on definitive answers from the Samsung development team. We understand they have just completed QA on the app and are waiting to hear if this update includes 2012 as well as 2014. We will let you know as soon as we can get an answer.
schmichael: One of the PLP guys is going to be on Devlin's Radiosport show on Friday. I plan to ask him about the Samsung TV app. Tune in to find out!!!

I'm in the same boat ... I was saving up for it for the new season but with the price hike it has become unaffordable. Annoyingly I have a very rich neighbour who test-drove a Hyundai a while back and now has PLP for free.
dabotsonline: Can you please ask whether the app for 2014 (and 2015) Samsung TVs will include H.265 / HEVC streams using the onboard decoder, rather than just H.264? Can you also please ask if this will be the case for the Android TV boxes that will debut in September / October (presumably only Samsung-branded ones?) Will this also extend to Google Chromecast? This will enable the bandwidth to be halved at the same resolution and bitrate, or to be kept constant for double the bitrate.
On that note, please also ask whether we'll see an increase regardless from 1280x720 resolution, 30fps framerate, 4Mbps bitrate, 8-bit colour depth, 4:2:0 luma/chroma subsampling and 2D.
1920x1080, 60fps, 20Mbps, 10-bit or even 12-bit and 4:2:2 would be wonderful: I believe that is all supplied by the raw Premier League Productions feed and Elemental Technologies have the expertise for H.265 / HEVC and presumably NeuLion as well. 3D would be fantastic, too, although I believe only Sky UK currently record in this format so some badgering of Premier League Productions may be required ;-) Then for the 2015-2016 season we could move right up to 3840x2160 resolution :-)
invisibleman18: Same for me and that's what stopped me subscribing last season and instead I relied on the delayed Arsenal TV on Sky. But the delays were sometimes just too frustrating. Instead of the 1pm Sunday Sky initially promised, sometimes it was 24 hours of avoiding the result, and we didn't get midweek games as for whatever reason Arsenal (and Spurs for that matter) would only supply one game a week, so there were still times I had to dowload games or get up in the night to find a dodgy free stream. Can't really face having to do that again so am this season going to accept a bit more hassle and reduction in quality for the guarantee of being able to watch every game either live or as soon as I get up.
My parents (Spurs fans) also got too frustrated with Spurs TV which doesn't seem to be returning this season so we're going to share it and split the cost between us, and just coordinate not to be using it at the same time. Spurs will often play on a different day due to Europa anyway, and they are retired so have more time than me so it shouldn't be a problem. Plus they tend to get up pretty early so on Sundays both teams are playing they'll probably have watched their game before I'm up (with Sky I tended to sleep in and watch recorded "as live" when I got up rather than getting up in the night).
