Any more news on the app for Samsung 2012 TVs?  This app would make me register but I've not heard anything new :-(

I've been told by Samsung that my 2013 blu ray player won't get the app because it can't play flash videos? Does that sound right? It has the YouTube, tvnz, tv3 and red bull apps, so why would plp be different? Is plp flash?

Anyone know if this works with Chromecast? I see you can get one fairly cheaply on Trademe at the moment. Without owning a Samsung TV or apple device I'm looking for anything to make the viewing experience on my TV better than the judder I get when connecting the laptop with HDMI.

I tweeted them a few days ago about this but haven't got a reply.

I did for the last round of last season. Best way to describe it is it made it look like it was filmed on a handheld camcorder. It was perfect on the laptop but like this when connected to the TV via HDMI (TV is a 2012 LG, full HD, 100 Hz, 3D etc) I've not had the same issues watching other streaming services using the same method, such as Arsenal Player and Sky Go so I don't think my equipment is the issue. Will report back how the first round this weekend goes. Would rather not have to buy a new TV, phone or tablet when what I've got are all fairly new but just happen to be the wrong brands for this.

Hi, Chromecast is currently GEO blocked out of the New Zealand googleplay store, however, we've found you can copy the URL and open that in a normal window and mirror it through Chromecast.

I'm gonna be a stuck record :-)  Any news on the 2012 Samsung TVs Sam?  An indication before the 20th would be useful as that is when the reduced price expires and TV support is the critical feature for me.

Cheers,

Chris

Just heard from Samsung, looks like 2012 may still be in the works although we still can't get a definitive list of model numbers out of them. Very frustrating I know. More details soon.

Thanks for that. Could be worth a gamble for around $60. Cheaper than a new TV or ipad anyway!

Do you have any tips to reduce the judder I experience when connecting my laptop to TV via HDMI? I don't experience this with other streaming services. It's perfect when played on the laptop but very shaky on the TV. The HDMI cable is quite new and is used with my PS4 which has no issues, TV is a 2012 LG model with full HD and 100Hz, so I think my equipment should be good enough to view this properly.

Beniore,

Your best bet is to call them on 0800 pl pass (I think).

I did on Friday and the girl lodged a support ticket that was eventually answered for me on Sunday. I think that if you strike a senior support rep they will probably be able to answer you immediately.

I'm currently getting the run around re: the smart blu ray player app availability. The website says that it will be available on selected players. I have got the highest spec 2013 player but no go. One of the PLP support douchebags told me it was bad luck, which I didn't react well to.

I rang Sumsung support and got told that the blu ray player doesn't support flash video, which I find very odd. I'd love someone more technical on here to confirm that, since it can play youtube, red bull, tvnz, tv3 etc.

Hey, new to this Forum, and looking for some advice...

Good to see a indepth discussion on the EPL rights/PLP here...

Was a PLP Season subscriber last year, but only had a pretty outdated laptop, which wasn't the best viewing experience. Videos were choppy, and it struggled when viewed in full screen mode.

Now I'm reading about the Samsung partnership for the 2014 season... and I knew it would be too good to be true. Turns out my 2012 Smart T.V will not have direct access to the PLP App ( Just my Luck) And according to the bloke on 'PLP Pass' live chat' there is no plans to change this.

So my question is... I currently own a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 and that does have access to the App which i've downloaded and it runs smoothly. Is there any way you can connect a tablet directly to a Samsung T.V? or even wireless? Obviously Samsung Tablets do not have an HDMI connection, which rules out that option.

I just can't comprehend watching a full season on a 7inch tablet display.... :)

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated..

Regards
Sean
