Krishant007:
invisibleman18: Doesn't sound like there will be a discount this season. Instead of the early bird discount, free Copa America was this year's deal. I'll be getting it because I need to follow my team but am still not completely happy with it. As they have confirmed no playstation app for this season my main issue is that for 3 seasons, despite having a smart TV, PS4, PS3, tablet and smartphone, there is still no app available to me and my only option is still to connect my laptop to TV. Unfortunately I have got all the wrong brands. If only I had known when I bought my TV in 2012 that I would need a certain brand to watch EPL properly. The stream is pretty good on the laptop but I want to watch it on my TV and it still gets a bit jerky doing it that way.

It will be interesting to see what happens after this season when the rights go up for bidding again. Also, since ESPN Australia has lost the Champions League to beIN Sports, and we get the ESPN Australia feed it's still unclear whether we will get CL coverage this coming season. Would expect Coliseum to be looking at it if the rights are up for grabs.

I coincidentally have a Samsung smart tv - hand me down from my sister. So got a bit lucky there as I usually would lean to Sony/Panasonic for TVs.

Wow thats a shame that CL is going away from ESPN. I would have certainly thought that Sky would do something like get Bundesliga or Italian league and started showing those more regularly. But they are hell bent on losing their sports enthusiasts.

I really hope CL will NOT be coming to this streaming service if the service is going to be like EPL. Also, any other discounts/vouchers that people are aware of to get PLP?

I would be really keen at 150 for the package - 200 is a bit excessive considering only Samsung TVs and no apps for PS4 are available.

The Samsung app is not good if you want to watch on demand.
If the game is played at 3:30am, and you wake up at 6 to watch it - you'll be out if luck.

When you play it, it will just come up with a 'this match has ended' screen until they re-upload the file bacl for on demand screening (which seems to take a little over the real time run of the game + promos, maybe 2.5 hours)

We have decided to no re-subscribe this year, as it was poor quality, or we missed key points in the game (or lost sound, etc etc)
I'll probably watch on Sky (lucky enough that my team is on there, or was)

djrm: No the streaming quality is no better than when it started. Picture is very fuzzy and barely SD. When the play is fast it tends to Stutter and become pixilated. The none live versions have been taking longer and longer to reformat so now it will take up To 4 Hours post the end of the live before you can replay. Having said that I will Take out yet another years subscription I want to watch the football.

Sounds like you have some other problem if you haven't seen an improvement. I've used the service for the last two years and have seen a significant improvement over time.

I've found on a computer that Firefox works slightly better than Chrome. On my Panasonic Smart TV it streams perfectly fine through the built in Web Browser, and also works fine (although I can't get the 4500 kbps stream) with the Android App which I have sideloaded onto my Amazon Fire TV.

Having said that I have been using UFB through Vocus Communications and now BigPipe.

Trust me I have no other problem. Both Lightbox and Netflix both stream high definition without any buffering. I use the Samsung app and the quality is crap.

Disappointed that there's no $150 renewal this year. This will hurt their signups I think. Not sure i'm signing up. Also the monthly cost works out the same as the season pass which doesn't seem logical. Why pay $200 upfront when you can pay $20 every month 10 times?

That's actually a good point.

If you can drip feed them the money, why pay a lump sum?

They seem to have reached that point where they are no longer looking at the big picture...a lot like Sky TV...

There has to be a catch here, or they are very silly. is the monthly pass a season long thing and if you cancel you pay some extorionate exit fee? hard to see from the quick glance i done.

$149 per year is about my limit so unless there's a special offer for re-subscribing I will probably give it a miss this year.

I wasn't overly impressed with their first season but last season the quality was great. I mostly watched on a tablet and occasionally via HDMI on the TV and apart from the occasional blip I thought it worked perfectly.

If you watch on the tablet, can you join at 5am and watch a game that is partway through at the beginning or will you always start at the live point?  If they haven't fixed this then they do not deserve it in my opinion.  I don't want to have to wait till after work to watch a Sunday game as by the time I get home I know the score and any contentious things... I can't watch games once I know what the score is etc, and given my work is surrounded by football fanatics, I will know the score within 5 minutes of walking in the door!

Yeah, $200 is too much for most folks and I'll be surprised if there isn't something better offered to their customers soon.

I subscribed to PLP last season and the quality was very good I thought, plus it's high definition (unlike Sky Sports). I know they only have one more year but I hope that PLP continues to develop and improve the product, maybe add some more games and make it available on more platforms such as Apple TV.

Ya I feel $200 may be a bit too much. I preferred their old plans of $150 for just the games and $200 (or was it $250) for games + extras

So what is happening with the Champions League? Saw that ESPN are no longer going to broadcast, any news on who will get the broadcast rights or if indeed anyone is bidding?

They really need to improve the platform for me if they want to win the rights again, its pretty poor really... Limited applications (no 2012 Samsung Smart TV app even though they said it would be available, no integration in to other set top box apps etc.), unstable feed quality, delays... BTW Sky Sports HD feed was in HD and before losing it was streaming at around 9000kbps, much higher than the current PLP offering.

Surely based on what has happened with rights amounts elsewhere the amount to watch is going to go up here also?   And wasn't paying just for the sports you wanted etc what people wanted rather than a '1 price for all' service?

its a tough call whether or not to re-join again or not, I think if they'd been a deal I would have just said ah well why not but as there hasn't been it forces you to think about it, can't see them offering one now as it'll piss the people off who dived in for the Copa America deal.

I pretty much just use it to watch my team, and maybe half a dozen other games throughout the season so probably $5 a game assuming you watch them all, I always watched the Saturday games, but generally missed any games that were on a Sunday and 50/50 during the week..

quality wasn't amazing but it was good enough, interesting there doesn't seem to be any developments this season.. inbetween 1 and 2 they revamped quite a bit.

decisions decisions, to subscribe or to settle for the 10 minute highlights on the clubs website..

Still unclear. beIN Sports in Australia got the rights for Oceania, but they don't broadcast here so as things stand there will be no coverage here. I imagine Coliseum would be interested if rights for NZ were available. I asked beIN Sports on Facebook last week if they have any plans to broadcast CL in NZ but they have not responded. So looks like we'll have to find an overseas source at the moment.
