knew there was a catch. so there only incentive for the monthy payment is if you do not want to pay the lump sum up front you can pay it in installments. ~20$ per month or 200$ up front.  wonder what the early termination fee is or if thre is one? And didn't they do it before where you could just buy for 1 month only with no further commitment, maybe they will introduce later in the season?

Early termination fee is the remaining "outstanding balance".

The outstanding balance is the number of months from sign up x $19.90 to the last week of the season.

I for one will be happy as I'll be able to watch on my screen easily.

What I think Sky should do, if they where to get the rights again, is effectively offer an online system a la PLP and also screen it via satellite for those with Sky subs, perhaps using their pop up channels to host the games.

I will be happy if Sky gets it again. PLP, in my opinion, have been hopeless since day one. I think the problem is that they probably paid way over the odds for a relatively small fan base in NZ. CAn't see them having made monay, but I may be wrong.

I think Coliseum won the rights for 3 years, and this coming season is the third one of these years.

In my opinion it would be in Sky's interests acquire the rights to a 'Football' channel, in a similar way to their Rugby Channel.  I doubt that many subscribers watch the EPL games live, given they are early morning, or mid-morning weekdays when most are at work, so delayed coverage on Sky would be acceptable to many.

I too am vacillating as to whether to renew my subscription.  I could just about survive by watching the 'club channel' for the club I follow, provided I avoid knowing the score of the game.  But the quality of the coverage, particularly the commentary, is better on the Barclays coverage than the club channels.

On a related matter, it is ominously quiet about where the Champions League coverage will be this coming season.  If Coliseum pick this up and include with the EPL then $199 per season would be a bargain.

I think if it was just 'real' NZ subscribers then Yes maybe they haven't made much, but who knows how much they have made from subscribers in other countries.  I also wonder with the NZ subscriber numbers how much the team channels have hurt them.

deltasigma,

It is going to be different this year but the problem with the champions league was the group stage had a awful lot of games that didn't mean much to the average football fan.

I'll just reinstate Sky Sports.

I've had free subscriptions for the last 2 years but I've thought the service was rubbish. I'm not renewing this year and will again be sending the premier league an email expressing my displeasure with PLP's service. I'd encourage everyone else who thinks likewise to do the same.

It looks like BeIN Sports Australia have picked up the Champions League (exclusively) for Australia, and it appears Sky NZ's ESPN channel was 'ESPN Australia & NZ', so I would be very surprised if Sky has the UCL this year.

I wonder if eventually BeIN will try to get the channel they have in Australia as a 'Through' channel in NZ?  Much like Rialto channel.

Wouldn't be at all suprised if they try for EPL rights in Australia from next year and if they could get then may try for NZ as well

I don't work for PLP, but curious to know exactly what your issue is?

The reason I ask is its delivered over the Neulion platform which I've used for other sports (NFL, NBA & NHL) and like PLP I've never had any issue.

Before you sign up, check out Spark for a 20% discount on the monthly season pass:
https://store.spark.co.nz/internet/football/voucher

I only found this link through a Google search (I can't navigate to it via Spark).  The important thing is it states:

Already have a PremierLeaguePass subscription?

Sorry. If you already have a Season Pass you can't take advantage of this offer.

I'm guessing Spark or PLP will be sending out emails this week with the offer.
