I got Fanpass for the next month to watch the Black Caps, so I'll be watching whatever Olympics coverage is on Sky 1-4, plus the Prime coverage via Freeview. I've managed to successfully mirror the BBC Sport app to my AppleTV - not great because it doesn't go full screen, but it's there in a pinch. I think the best free option is Australia's Channel 7, who have 900 hours of coverage free-to-air spread across their channels 7, 7TWO and 7mate which they will be streaming via a dedicated website and from 1 August they'll also have an app, which will hopefully have AirPlay functionality. I have the TVStreams app and have working streams for all those channels in decent quality. The details on how to achieve that, plus links, are here. Of course, their coverage will focus on the Australian athletes and you'll have to deal with the Australian commentary ;) They've also been advertising that they'll have a paid subscription service that will give you pretty much full coverage of everything, but I can't find any details on it other than news articles. I presume it'll be built into their app and options will be advertised when that goes live on August 1st.

It may well be that when the time comes, there are more options, as the licence gives Sky a subscriber demand bonus. Now, anyone who got Sky for the games is in. Maybe Fanpass might be expanded to get further revenue

I think there would be good demand for a special Olympic streaming package on Fanpass. I can't afford to subscribe to Sky just to watch a month-long event, but I would have seriously considered a streaming subscription. I don't think we'll get it this time around, though.

Fingers crossed they have added to revenue with the games, and add further by topping up non Sky subscribers. Fans is due for the ATV4, I wonder ion that includes any added features for the games as what we hear here, is that its almost here, and maybe an app update for iOS Fanpass??? It is late though, games start in a week

Sadly I don't think it will, but I expect over the next year or so their offering will improve - there has been discussion about sport-specific packages (I want a cricket one!) and they've just introduced pay-per-view. The ability to do catch up and highlights via the app would be good. That might be built into the ATV one we're about to get, although if it's not in the iOS app already, maybe I'm being too optimistic.

I've just downloaded the Olympics On 7 app from the Australian iTunes store - it's free and the normal 7 channels are streaming live on it just fine with Unotelly. The other streams (such as the athlete profiles) don't seem to work. I might just flick Unotelly a support request to see if the rest of the app needs unblocking. You can pay $20AUD to get premium access which is 36 channels of comprehensive coverage (details here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/255483). That was the kind of thing I was hoping we'd get with Fanpass (even at the $50-$70 dollar mark I would have subscribed for a decent coverage package). The normal channel 7 app will get you the free coverage, but the Olympics one has other features and you'll need it for the premium coverage. Need to make sure it's not geoblocked before paying for it, though.

Join sky for $50 for 6 months?

That's a $300 outlay, and for me, it's not worth the spend, given there's nothing else on Sky that I want to watch. The nice thing about Fanpass is that I can turn it on and off at will, so I only pay for about 4 months a year in total. I'll make do with the Prime coverage if I can't get the Olympics any other way. Or go to my parents' house and watch their Sky ;o)

Pity FanPass doesn't have the Olympics on it but I guess Sky would want to give it away cheaply as they would rather you sign up for 6 moths plus a MySky.

Ah what a shame ... my problem with paying $300 over 6 months is that I won't have time for anything other than glued to the box!

So the Olympics for 3 weeks - across 12 channels.
Plus Blackcaps in Zimbabwe, Blackcaps vs Pakistan (November), vs Australia (December), vs Bangladesh (Dec/Jan).
And possibly, depending on whether Sky gets to coverage - Blackcaps vs South Africa, vs India.
All in the next six months. $55/month for fanpass (only 2 channels of Olympics) or $50/month for 6 months.
Yeah, theres nothing else on Sky that you want to watch, oh rabid cricket fan.......

My main worry is I might want to record all 12 channels simultaneously ...

What would be really interesting in this table is another column showing the cost in each country. OK, a bit difficult where there are multiple broadcasters and streaming options, etc, but at least the lowest cost option in each country.

SS 3 and 4 have it, Prime has about 9 hours a day live, hope its reasonably watchable.
