Rikkitic:

I just heard from an overseas source that NZ and Oz are being used as a testbed for Netflix. They want to see how it goes here before implementing it elsewhere. I can't verify this information but I have no reason to think it's not true.

Interesting.  I follow a few expat forums for people living overseas and was surprised that there were no threads about this.

Hyperventilating this morning turned on TV to find Netflix not working, not sure if it has been deactivated or not.

Just comes up with advert asking you to subscribe for $7.99 a month, has anyone else experienced this via Apple TV?

That's reasonably common. Our Apple TV logs us out quite often. Have you tried logging back in again?

My TV is ALWAYS losing netfllix (Bravia 60"), reset router etc etc and off it works.

Netflix is the worst software on a browser in the world of optimisation ever. It truely sucks.

Did they choose silverlight to avoid piracy?

They could have at least learnt the sdk before releasing it. The fact a 1ghz phone can run it better than a fairly modern laptop spells it out. Ive gone into silverlight and optimised it myself. Now runs fine. But the average user isnt going to do that. Its a wonder netflix arent in bed with apple, "Netflix runs like Apple pie" on the front screen with the latest macbook pro with 2% off sale when joining netflix. Rofl.

Sorry I do rant.

Im not having any issues with playback, whats the general consensus?

I tried logging in to netflix yesterday and the US version wouldnt let me in but canada/uk/mexico and NZ all worked, reset my router and used dynamo on unotelly to flick around a few countries and bang, back on US again.

so no issues here, will try again at lunch today to be sure.

try making 2 profiles in netflix, sometimes switching to one and back again will reset the location. i dont know why.

plenty of good stuff on NZ and aus though. but i must admit im running out of stuff to watch thats good. i think netflix needs to produce more of its own content quicker, ie the last season of hell on wheels or second season of marco polo.
