So now I am guilty of moral turpitude! Got to love that geo-unblocking, it takes villainy to a whole new level! I guess now I will go take some candy away from a baby. I will bring money with me to pay for it, though. That's what we geo-villains do!

Hope that you dont have a professional designation that requires you to sign an annual declaration of ethics. There may be questions that ask if you are guilty of committing moral turpitude in the last 12 months. Of course lying about it to retain the professional designation would only be another case of moral turpitude.

In other words they make up a rough number based on how many people of the right demographic might watch the show, but they'll never really know. In the digital age, when every byte can be accounted for and users tastes intimately profiled, does this not seem ridiculously outdated?

Get rid of the overpaid program buyers and let the users decide what they want to watch.

Netflix would have a good idea of how much and watch sort of program that their user base would watch. Hence the commissioning of Adam Sandler movies - not flash at the box office but popular amongst Netflix users. But they dont disclose that to the content producers that they buy from.

Would you tell a house seller how much you're willing to pay - or hope that you get it for less? Just enough that the seller will accept but hopefully not a penny more.

Even if I did I would have no problem making such a statement. There is nothing wrong with my ethics. Apart from that, the concept of 'moral turpitude' is just a made-up designation the Americans (who else?) invented to exclude immigrants. It is questionable whether geo-unblocking would even qualify if you look at their exemption list. What does qualify is prostitution, which is completely legal in New Zealand. I am not bothered by this kind of legalism. Just because someone claims something is wrong to serve their own vested interest, does not make it so.

moral turpitude covers a lot and was not just "invented to exclude immigrants". However some of the crimes it covers would certainly damage chances to enter the US and many other nations.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

After all the cogent and incoherent arguments above, this is the strongest moral and ethical one yet to leave Netflix. I count myself embarassed to be associated with a group where Adam Sandler movies are popular. Eeeew.

All the same thing on a scale of varying proportions.

No,you are conflating something that isn't illegal with things that are.

It's more like getting a pair of jeans shipped using Youshop because the vendor doesn't want to sell to New Zealand. Or buying a Zone A DVD from Amazon and playing it in an unlocked player. Neither of which I have a problem with.
