But if you pay for Google Music, YouTube Red is free. Are you sure your trial for Red is on the same account as your Music subscription? Or have I misunderstood what you're saying?
People often mistake me for an adult because of my age.
Keep calm, and carry on posting.

I wonder if I've misread it, as everyone seems to be suggesting that, pay for one, get the other for free. Whereas I agreed to the Red offer yesterday and I got the impression that I would get Red for one month free, then start paying. In addition to my Music subscription.
I have another look at the confirmation email.
Edit. Under my Youtube Red settings, it states my status as Member, price, free with Google Music. Billed by Google Music. So it would seem it's included.
However I did get a confirmation email with my credit card xxx'd out, and saying my trial ends 18th of June. So it looked like it was an additional charge. However as everyone is saying it's likely that it will be just the one subscription.
What I found annoying, is that Google choose to activate it automatically as soon as I used the youtube app. I had wanted to save the free trail for a few weeks time as I will be a away and won't be using it. But they have activated it now, which isn't great. I suppose you can just signup an get another google account to get another free trial though. Don't think it is something worth paying for apart from the youtube music app, which is a bit like spotify with videos.
I got charged my normal rate today so I contacted via chat, they said they'd get back to me within 48 hours, so I'll see what they say.
Seems like some funky stuff is going on for those with existing early adopter ($10.99) GPM subscriptions. My partner was on the standard rate and got an email confirming her subscription would be dropping to $9.99 and that she would get bundled access to Youtube Red. I got nothing, and then a day or two later got my standard monthly bill for $10.99. I went to Youtube Red and was offered a trial account (i.e. no free access), which automatically activated. The account section of the app confirmed I was on a trial. However I've just looked at it again today and it now confirms I have free access with GPM.
Just waiting on my price drop now, I guess.
So I got a response from google, it doesn't make much sense considering some people are now getting the $9.99 rate:
I have checked your previous interaction with one of our support agents and see that you have a concern about price for Google Play Music subscription.
I've checked the details on your request and would like to inform you that the promotional rate for Google Play Music subscription in your country is 9.99 NZD. However, including TAX, you are being charged with 10.99 NZD. Tax is determined based on good tax laws where you're located. For more information about the Tax, please visit our help link here.
Of course $9.99 plus GST is more like $11.49, doesn't make a lot of sense. So I've emailed back questioning this.
bongojona: Am curious on how well the download function works
Can you download a whole play list or just one at a time?
Can you select quality (manage file sizes)
I've saved down one video, so not sure about playlist. But for file download it gave me three quality choices with information the the size for each, which was helpful.
Offline videos are accessed through your account tab on the you tube app.
scottjpalmer: Any update on the GPM price dropping? Mine still shows as $12.99 renewing on 8 June. My YouTube Red is free due to my GPM.
I'm waiting to hear back from Google in regards to this. I was on a "earlybird" rate of $10.99 and it didn't drop down to $9.99 as advertised. I've had several strange responses from Google, I'm now dealing with a "specialist" and awaiting his "investigation into this issue". I'll post if/when I hear anything useful.
Background play is the best. It's so great to just be watching a video on your phone, switching to another app and still being able to listen.
Any of the $10.99ers had any luck with support?
I emailed on the 19th May, got a reply 5 days later saying Youtube can't help and forwarded me to Google Play Music. I completely forgot about it until the 8th June when they finally replied but Google Play Music ended up cancelling my subscription without my agreement and forwarding me to Youtube to help me sign up to the promo. Youtube said to late for the promo you'll have to pay 12.99 now but we can refund the first month to compensate?
One of the worst outcomes I've seen in my life!
Tried the chat now who said they will forward to a specialist, I hope they at least put my old rate back but I have no hope any more.
