reed: Blocking 8.8.8.8 is not a complete fix for me. Sometimes it works without problem but much of the time it disconnects from netflix every 5 minutes. The first 25% of the Roku progress bar seems to be a trick - so when there is no buffering the progress bar stops at 25%.

Block all google DNS and open DNS

8.8.8.8
8.8.4.4

208.67.220.220

Can you describe how the OpenDNS servers contribute to buffering issues?

I now have my roku 3, netflix via unblock-us working without problem. I have a HUAWEI HG659.

Here's what I needed :-
Blocking 8.8.8.8 in parental controls.

Admin access to the router ( Default vodafone HUAWEI HG659 username 'Admin' and password 'VF-NZhg659' )
DNS settings need to be made in the Internet/Internet Settings/Internet_vdsl section.
Note: If DNS settings are made only in the Home Network/Lan section then I have the problem described above

That's it. I didn't (couldn't smile) set up any static routes.

I have the HG659 but need more help when logged in as Admin.

a) Parental Controls
In URL Filter, do you add 8.8.8.8 in the URL field and then click Save?

b) Internet_vdsl
If I Edit, then I do I set the IPv4 primary and IPv4 secondary DNS server IP addresses (for Unotelly)

Edit> I have before put the 2 Unotelly IP addresses in Home Network>Lan Interface>DHCP Server.
So I am unclear where to set the Unotelly IP addresses.

Hope you can help.

Put them in there too. They don't stick in there for me but it doesn't seem to matter.

FYI: I ended up not putting DNS settings in Network>Lan Interface>DHCP Server but instead set CPE acts as the DNS proxy. I'm not really sure what this setting does.

I'm still having issues with this and I can't figure it out.

I'm using an Asus RT-AC66U router. I have set up static routes as per the multiple guides online, blocked all of the Google and OpenDNS addresses, I have put the same addresses into the URL filter (parental controls only controls the amount of time online), but no matter what I still get the stuck at 25% issue as described earlier, regardless of whether static routing is turned on or off! It's so hit and miss that I can't narrow it down to one particular setting or settings that's causing all this. I get a 100% packet loss doing a ping test so I'm assuming it's set up correctly.

This is on a 100/50 fibre connection with Vodafone and only when using the Roku 3! Using the iPad app, on Apple TV, etc, works fine so I'm guessing it's still related to the 8.8.8.8 issue. Maybe I'm still missing something.

My main DNS unblocker is Getflix, but again, no difference whether using UnoTelly or Unblock-us.

I've done the same.  It's certainly working.  I'm still having the buffering issue with the Roku.  I have noticed that although my line stats and speed is good I'm dropping pings.  I still suspect the HG659 is havig processor issues.
