I actually think it was the Aussie media companies who called them pirates, which is interesting in itself as it was an Aussie court (I think) that specifically ruled bypassing geo blocks (in this instance it was region locking/unlocking DVD players) was not illegal.

Even our own copyright law doesn't prohibit individuals importing movies from overseas, so I fail to see how Netflix is considered piracy according to our own legislation.

Given that they aren't a franchise paying stupid fees for services, marketing and "brand" that aren't worth anything, they have a better chance than many.........

Don't hold your breath. Why would they - if you want HD, get a MySky.... :/

After reading all these pages I find it odd no one has asked about the Vodafone / Sky package customers. As those who are get a STB recorder anyway which is not myski and are paying for that service indirectly to Sky so are they going to get the ability to use this for free or are they looking at paying for the privelage too???

Plus it has always surprised me that people want to pay Sky so much anyway. Like many have mentioned the cost of international subs don't make Sky an attractive service at all. Approx $15 for Netflix or similar per month (this is including the geo block removal cost eg Unotelly). The difference though is Sport and Soho if sports are not included then waste of time as the bulk of their customers are there for that. If Soho is that's about the only advantage over something like Netflix as a lot of those shows are relatively up to date (within a few days or weeks) whereas Netflix is not.

I don't really like Sky's monopoly and therefore don't have it however if the pricing of sports as a addon to this service is cheap enough (I mean one off) then I could be persuaded at $10 or less per event certainly not keen on the ridiculous Igloo pricing of $15 - $25 per match that's just terrible as a few games and you've paid for a Sky sub with the sports addon.

shk292: Why anyone would pay $60 and upwards for Sky then not pay $15 extra to get MySky (which IMHO doubles or triples the value of Sky) is beyond comprehension.

davidcole: I'd agree. But I'd say your unlimited devices (netflix restricts you to 3) so we should be a bit more reasonable and expect say 3-5 devices rather than unlimited.

Is that three devices streaming Netflix simultaneously? If not then I have Netflix installed on my HTPC via WMC, two iPads, and two smart TVs in my house, and use all of them regularly (but not all at the same time).

We got Sky UHF when it first came out, paid dearly, we got Sky Satellite when it first came out, paid dearly, we subscribed for years, paid more and more. Moved house a few times, they wouldn't offer free install so stopped subscribing. 10 years later we still don't miss the service.

Having an HTPC with XBMC and PIVOS XIOS also running XBMC Linux is the bees knees, start watching in the Lounge go to the bedroom carry on easy peasy.

Why they just wouldn't say 'no' I'm not sure though.

If they said "no comment" to speculation which was true and "no" to untrue speculation then we'd know which speculation was and wasn't true :-)

A good proportion of the population neither have the technical skills nor desire to set up DNS services as well as Netflix and other online streaming services. That is why MySky is so popular because it is easy - plug in and go.
