So long as it isn't aussie commentators harping on that their competitor "is the best in the world", cause they always are, anything else is a blessing really

I just imagine an event where a Kiwi is in it, and all you can really do is watch her/him as the commentators wont be mentioning her/him.

I feel many of our comemntators add flavour and knowledge.

Anyone knows why sky only has 10 channels? Supposed to have 12 I was told?

+ Sky Sport 3 and 4 = 12.

I can get the Channel 7 streams from Aussie via both the channel's iPad app and the TVStreams app.

So the bbc sport app (iOS) allows you set rekindles for certain sports. The alerts seem to be team gb or on a country getting a medal. I wasn't able to delve any further into getting alerts for nz based sport.

Watching Mahe Drysdale's heat on the +7 app live stream on ATV4. Stream seems solid. Not HD but it's watchable. No worse than Prime. Even the Aussie commentators are okay :)

I watched a reply of the Mens 4x100 m freestyle swimming relay on NBC (Had to use a VPN since Getflix wasn't working). Surprised to find the commentary was the NZ commentary (John ?). Didn't NBC have their own commentary team there?

I watched a bit on Prime last night, the quality is fine. Not 720p but seems close enough to that.

Fanpass, I have that, what was on SS3-4 was meh.

Ive lost the Olympics buzz I usually have, dunno why. Maybe the controversys that have been going on for months and are still, big names bypassing it, lack of Sky box now.

Interesting.  From what I've seen there doesnt seem to be any absence (or reduction) in the coverage on NZH, Stuff or in the print versions.  Despite all the barracking its been BAU in terms of column inches.

Sure its limited video coverage from the print media but I wonder how much TVNZ will give away for free to its print/online competitors for the 2018 Commonwealths......

I would have assumed that Sky had the right for the com games as they did last time..

Been watching the weightlifting on Seven via the web and its great, HD and commentary is good. No Aussies competing possibly helps. They have the schedule mapped out by sport and it's all on-demand.

Then you assumed wrong.  https://www.tvnz.co.nz/sales-news/tvnz-broadcast-2018-commonwealth-games

And thats why TVNZ did the "strongly worded statement but agree to terms" strategy for the Olympics coverage stoush.
