Waiting for Disney to give a graceful way of removing a series from 'continue watching' after you select it by accident (or someone in the household selects it for you).

Also to access the other episodes of a series you are downloading, to download further episodes without having to manually browse... like if I have S03E04 in my downloads, and i'm wanting to quickly grab E05 and E06 to download as well, I can't do it from the downloads view of the series, on my android device.

Netflix still seems slightly more polished. It's not bad, I suppose. Little annoyances.

No signature to see here, move along...

Since my first post, I have joined SKY Broadband from Vodafone. I got the 12 months free subscription included, and I have watched several programs on Disney+.

Although there has been a small price rise to $14.99 per month, or $149.99 per year (saving about $30), I think that I will renew my subscription when its due.

In comparison to Apple TV+ there are far more new films and series becoming available.

After some consideration, I have decided to cancel my subscription. I watch Netflix a lot more than Disney+ (which still isn't often). I also cancelled Apple TV+ and Apple Music (price increase). I have replaced Apple Music with Spotify. I am keeping Netflix as I share my son's account.

Disney are releasing Avatar: The Way of Water on Digital(Apple iTunes, Amazon etc.) on March 28th, but so far no Disney+ announcement. Squeezing every last cent from the film.

I let my subscription lapse in February. Price rise, plus they seem slow at releasing new content. (That interests me) It is worth price with back catalog, but would rather watch newer content.

I had the annual one, but in future will just do monthly when there’s a few series, movies interested on it that are new.

Prime Video is rocking for me, included in broadband package but from memory was paying $8 before got included.

They seem to be putting good action/spy series out each month, quite a few third party movies in 4K, Fire Starter, Ghost Busters Afterlife, jurassic Park movies.

Only thing I’m missing by not having Disney plus at moment is latest weekly of The Mandalorian

I've cancelled our annual subscription also. We're just not getting $150 worth out of it over the year to justify it. Perhaps we'll pay for a month or two here or there if something new and worthwhile is released, but not worth paying for a year of it at this time.

I recently saw this film. I thought that it was a real let down; awful in fact. Marvel films are becoming unwatchable. All CGI and nothing else of note. Hopefully Guardians of the Galaxy 3 will restore my faith.

Disney removing titles.

Looks like Disney plus will become less value as they are removing around 50 shows this month (including Hulu). Looks like most of the shows were made 2022, so weren’t there that long. Guessing others could be removed in future to.

https://www.theverge.com/2023/5/19/23729642/disney-plus-hulu-remove-pull-shows-willow-streaming-bob-iger

Looks like they have to pay people payments while they’re available, so by not making them available reduces their cost.

There’s a list of expected shows in above link to be removed, one of which is "The Mysterious Benedict Society "

I seen all seasons of it and thought it was great, so that one looks like a sad loss. Also it looks like won’t be available anywhere to watch (legal) so will be lost.

I’m will be subscribing for a month or two to watch latest  Avartar and anything else that looks new since last subscribed like The Mandalorian

They claw them back when the distributor signs a better dea elsewhere l too (or starts their own platform)

But does appear to be a cost cut. Ala We ain't making new subs to watch them anymore, so we'll lease it to someone else to cover it.

Often find Netflix titles pop up a week after tvnz/3 has played it for the last time.. likewise they remove and suddenly another service has an entire catalogue not just the last season.

With paramount+ not being in nz, but agreement with tvnz you find titles split across platforms depending on the $$ it is to hold back catalogue vs current.
Star trek is a good example. Was Netflix, pulled for paramount, then /some/ handed to tvnz to play some time later. Or sometimes tvnz+ only without surround/HD (sigh)

Seems everyone is holding back trying to find money. We sit down on a Friday night to find something to watch. and across 4 subs it's been nye on impossible to get something recent that leaped out and wasn't low budget. Settled on 'the mother' in the end last night.

But most their 'top 10s' are slim pickings. Yay fragmentation, huh.

It looks like TVNZ has lost the BBC contract with Doctor Who. None are showing when search TVNZ.

I read about it a few weeks ago, but wasn’t sure if it included NZ, Disney+ has the rights to the new ones.

The first one of three specials is available now called Doctor Who: The Star Beast.

It’ll be nicer to be able to stream Dolby Digital, so for myself prefer to pay then inferior streaming  service TVNZ gives.

Series 5-10 are on Prime Video at present.

No one is showing Family Guy either from what I can tell. Fortunately, can watch it on Fox.com for free with a VPN (no sign-in required) and it's even the latest showings.

Apple has partnered with Disney+ to bring 3D movies to the streaming service from February 2nd in the US.

From that date onwards, select movies on Disney+ will be available to stream via the VR headset in both 2D and 3D.

It's understood that Disney+ subscribers will not have to pay extra to stream in 3D. Some of the more popular Disney movies that have already graced cinema screens in 3D will be among the first few. This includes: Avatar: The Way of WaterAvengers: Endgame, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Pixar's Elemental and Encanto and Tron: Legacy.

You will need to have both an Apple Vision Pro headset as well as a Disney+ subscription. The Vision Pro goggles are available to pre-order from 19 January, priced at US$3,499 (£2,736).
