ABC Oz live stream completely useless tonight. Even on lowest resolution completely unwatchable. Constant buffering and freezing. Download about 0.3 Mbps. SBS seems okay. What is the deal with ABC? This kind of problem seems to occur frequently, though this is the worst I have ever experienced.

checked after seeing your post . . .
No issues with the stream here on Skinny fibre.
I'd guess the problem is specific to your setup / isp

Oblivian:

Looks like you can blame your ISPs routing or peering again then.

Is there anything I can do about it? I had the same issue with my old ISP.

the problem is you were on RBi and are now on rural wireless, these are a shared spectrum (more so than fibre for XDSL) so everyone being home is going to put a lot more pressure on their infrastructure. the other thing is some international links are getting pretty busy. so that could also account for it.

not really much you can do about it except change your habits and find something else to watch or just deal wit the buffering. not what  you want to hear but it is what it is in these strange times

It is what it is, I guess. I can live with it if I have to. It helps to know why it is occurring. As a side note, we seem to have this problem with SBS and ABC, especially ABC, more than other sites. Sometimes it also affects some European sites but Australia is usually much worse. Our bad luck that we mainly watch ABC and SBS.

Anyone able to recommend a reliable working Apple TV app with EPG support?

Tried a dozen different apps from App Store and almost none of them work with apsattv m3u links, Playlist loads but streams don't.

Have only found 1 app that does work fine but does not have EPG support.

Alternatively, unless someone has some knowledge of getting xTeVe working with Plex? Spent last couple days and Plex always tells me 'unable to tune channel, check antenna' But could be me not configuring the Docker image correctly for xTeVe in DSM/Synology NAS...

Pulling my hair out. Just want to watch Freeview on Apple TV without an antenna!

I tried a heap of different ATV apps but could never get one to work the way I wanted. In the end I just stumped up the money for VTV Gen 2 box for live FTA TV. Well worth the money for the user experience alone not to mention the 3 day rewind and all that jazz.

Just wondering if you've tried NextPVR which apparently has a tvOS client.

Have considered it, frustrating that I have to pay for their hardware when really its just the app they are running on it I need... ATV hardware is more than capable. But I will look at it as a last resort. I see it has reviewed well

I try to stay away from the red devils products, I worked for Spark for nearly a decade you see.. feels like cheating

Thanks for that lead, looking for NextPVR also lead me to Emby Server which might also be an alternative. Today’s job!

I have those installed but looking for an all in one package where I can easily channel surf. Switching between apps becomes a bit bothersome. Just need Freeview to release their own app!

Well I use Emby instead of Plex. Generally it works fine, but I personally still use NextPVR v5 for my DVB-S tuners, which are in my main PC. You could probably use Emby directly if you're just trying IPTV without a tuner. I suggested NextPVR as the server is free and the app is apparently on $7. Emby server is free but Live TV requires Premiere which is $7 per month and unfortunately doesn't have a trial period for live TV. Also its more for playing your own media/rips as well, which its great at, and TV.

@apsattv: It would be convenient (only that) in this time of Covid19 to have RNZ on IPTV so we could zap to it like the other streams without having to switch to a browser or other device. Is this possible? I see an NZ IPTV list on a (no doubt) shady web site that includes RNZ, but it looks like it also includes all the Sky channels and doesn't work anyway without authorisation. Does RNZ not publish a stream of their own?

iPlayTV works.

IPLayTV worked best for me but I still had a little stutter in the stream every 15-20s. I haven't gone back to it sine getting the VTV.

Apsattv:

yeah i think it was a legacy stream from somewhere else as I think they use youtube now. The .m3u8 still downloads the data but the stream is empty.

they now have a new stream link (720p)[http://skydvn-sn-mobile-prod.skydvn.com/skynews/1404/03.m3u8]
