Watching a bit of the ABs verses SA again on demand. Of course it works perfectly again now. Struck by how good the picture looks, hence suspect even when it was working last night was not seeing it at full bitrate.

kiwifidget:

Watching Italy v Namibia now.

Samsung Q7 tv app
VF 100 fibre
wired

It kinda looks like its back to 30fps, not as crisp as yesterday, before "the troubles".

I have it running in the background and its streaming very well today on my Samsung TV via app. No problems but I agree - I have noticed that the quality is not as crisp as yesterday. Have they dropped the frame rate?

The quality doesn't look as good on the Spark Sport App via Apple TV 4K vs Airplay, ironically, and chromecast to the Shield.

It's not crisp, the grass looks compressed and blocky like the stream itself is lower res. I do wonder if its a result of me upgrading the AT4K to tvOS 13 GM 🤔

Vodafone 900/500 ethernet cables into back Sony A1.

I had some degradation of resolution a couple of time and the app crashed during halftime. (TV fault most likely)

Otherwise I was perfectly happy with the experience. Felt cleaner than sky experience other than when the resolution transiently dropped.

Premiership football much better than previous streaming service.

Ultimately I am happy to continue as is and wont be asking for refund. Realistically streaming is the only way we are going to get 4k sport eventually so I am prepared to be early adopter to support this ultimate aim.

Regarding the cry that it should go back to sky, isn't this teething experience no different from when sky first got all black games??

My first sky connection in very early 90s depended on being able to point the aerial at a transmitter on a hill. If you were in a valley you were stuffed. But technology progressed and quality improved although advertisements started..

I had the same issues as others with regards to resolution, otherwise no issues, certainly no buffering or freezes mid-game. I have noticed that the ads (which I assume are inserted by Spark) often freeze, the game has never frozen for me, dunno what that is all about.

I'm loving this whole thing though, I personally think it is a great moment for sports broadcasting in NZ and big ups to Spark for taking on this challenge. Other than my resolution dipping the quality of the production has been spot on.

Had a poor experience for the NZ game last night. Several freezes in the first half, with one of the tries missed while it was frozen. Switched to Duke for the 2nd half. Will go for the 15% refund and keep the service in the hope it improves - and mainly as an England fan I want to watch our games and none other than tonight are scheduled to be live on FTA.

Was using Vodafone Fibre 100 and a brand new Samsung Smart TV so feel like I was prepared equipment wise. Granted I was using WIFI rather than wired as the router is located too far from the TV to use wired, but I never have issues when using Netflix, TVNZ/TV3/Freeview on demand or Lightbox via the same method.

Seemed to go quite well here.

Blips last night look to relate to upstream utilization on the network rather than anything actually untoward, family did report they saw the blip discussed in the news but came right Quite quickly.

Ireland vs scotland looks great probably due to such low viewer numbers

The issues were not a capacity one.

this was made very clear in the PR release from spark sport themselves.

No issues so far tonight.  Had the family around for family dinner and had the games on in the background.  Consistently excellent picture.

I read it as saying not a local (i.e. NZ broadband) capacity issue but not ruling out capacity somewhere else in the chain. Japan -> USA etc...

Consistently excellent for me too today (same as last night), crisp and precise.  I'm trying to find somewhere on Spark to congratulate them, but it seems like you can only complain.  Sad.
