I think what will happen is that most SKY subscribers will stay with what they currently have. Either from ease of use or amount of use when they work out an 'all for one price deal' v pick what you want works out better.

The interesting thing is what they will do with SOHO. Will they let people watch progammes like Game of Thrones for a cost per episode? Of course SOHO is made up of content form 4 different cable tv channels in the US which all charge a fee and a lot of that content doesn't appear on netflix etc.

Will allowing people to watch single episodes/series result in a decrease in downloading? I actually don't think it will much, as 0 is the best possible price.

As an aside I totally get the use of netflix etc as you are paying a fee but how do people feel about accessing taxpayer funded content (BBC iplayer) when they are not a resident/citizen of the country? How can you complain about any government funding in NZ or those who access it when you are doing the same to another country and not telling the truth about who you are.

I've asked this question before and I don't expect to see any different answers - but I still think it's an important question;

How will they split/share the content between the providers?

Now that we have three possible players in the domestic NZ market; Sky, Spark and Netflix - will the content be disjointed or shared by allowing distribution by delay?

Procrastination eventually pays off.

It's new. Existing Netflix customers are grandfathered in plan and price. New ones have these options.

They have. It;s just not available here.

It is available in Australia.
Doesn't have the same content as the UK version though for obvious reasons. In the UK, the BBC broadcasts all BBC content so can put whatever it likes on it's iplayer.
In Australia, other TV stations broadcast BBC content and pay the BBC good money for doing so, therefore the BBC iplayer doesn't get as much of the good new stuff in Australia because they'd rather take money from Foxtel etc.
You can expect the same to happen here if the BBC ever decides to release the iplayer here.

I can't say I lose any sleep over it. I'm not depriving the BBC or the UK taxpayer of anything and I don't, nor wouldn't, complain about other people accessing NZ content from overseas

I wonder why they don't just implement DVB-H (and SH) - it would make things a lot easier for people to view their content.

I wonder what has happened to the big mysky upgrade that sky announced a year ago. It was going to connect to the Internet new epg..... Nothing.

The content will probably be in the same terrible resolution they use for skygo

I really wish Sky would focus on bolstering HD content on channels like Discovery and Nat Geo than introducing new services which suck.

Exactly. And also, in my case, existing Panasonic recorder that does pretty much most of what MySky does for no ongoing fee, and alows disk burning and DLNA streaming as well.

Back on topic, good on them for coming up with it, I'm prepared to give them the benefit of the doubt until I see what they eventually offer. May be enough to keep me with Sky (which I'm close to cancelling) if the pricing/content point is right. However, I will need to see content that was comparable with Netflix, and pricing that is within +25% of Netflix to get it, for me to be interested. Otherwise, Bah!

DVB-H receivers aren't common though and I think Sky already decided that it wasn't worth it before the Igloo concept - really as cheap and crappy a DVB-T2 service that has ever been offered anywhere, minimal technical effort for a little return and chance to keep the frequencies. Sky aren't and never will be into technical innovation.
