I would suggest just using B&H rather than youshop for 1 or 2 of them. Decentish shipping speed but way cheaper. Remember you cant amazon a chromecast so its hassle with google accounts so may as well buy from a retailer that will just ship to you.

I placed an order with them after you mentioned them earlier in the thread, thanks for the tip, as you say the shipping speed (quoted at this stage) and cost is great!

These are going to launch locally very soon through the current retail channels that carry the Chromecast v1. RRP will be less than $98 (significantly so) though I'm not 100% sure what that will be. Only black being brought in officially at this stage.

The current Chromecast v1 will have a price drop to clear through its stock (of which there is a significant amount).

Oh I so hope this is true, I've been meaning to buy another one or two, but have been holding out for the new one.

Just saw them at PB Tech Wellington for $91 (ish) so B&H is the way to go.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

Hi everyone, I can more or less confirm these will be around the $70 mark through Google's authorised retail partners and will be available within the next few weeks.

I received a 2.0 from PB Technologies just the other day. Ordered it at 12:30 am, paid $98, then PB ran a promo deal of $88 for that day!

They were happy to honour the lower price.

Seems the 5GHz on them is close to useless unless you are right by the AP. Testing one here across the room and thru 1 wall, it was freezing on youtube. Cellphone in the same place gets 3/4 bars and solid 25 megabit speedtests. That is with the chromecast sitting on the table beside an HDMI switch, not stuffed behind the TV too.

Ouch - I just landed 3 for $66 a piece, and could even choose a colour other than black! ;-)

Which reshipper did you use? Google USA store has decided it hates my card on my US google account now for some reason and CBF messing about when the fire tv is IME a nicer product and easier to buy.

Just Youshop - it's pretty reasonable freight IMO.  Yeah, I did have to set up a US-geolocated Google account (via VPN), but haven't had any issues buying with Westpac Visa at this stage.

Hopefully the comment a few days ago about local release pans out and it won't be an issue any longer.
