I thought it was something like that. How do I fix it? None of my devices are working, including Nvidia Shield, KII Pro, and generic Android boxes. I am using both Huisman and Appsat playlists. I don't give a crap about TVNZ but this is unacceptably heavy-handed. What, they can't think of anything other than a nuclear blast to get rid of a gnat?

I have been following this thread with much amusement. I don't pirate but every time I encountered something with copy protection I would make a point of bypassing it, just for the satisfaction of doing so. I have always used external boxes for streaming. I also use a Harmony to control all my devices through a single remote. I can't see any point to a 'smart' TV. I did buy one several years ago, but that was because it was the best panel for the price. It was a couple of years before I even looked at the smart functions, just out of curiosity. They were as useless as I expected.

So are we still amused?

Yes they no longer publish a general m3u8 playlist when you try to access any of their live FTA channels. This is a real shame as it knocks out any generic IPTV access.

Actually, yes. This is so over the top that it will probably bring about the end of TVNZ, which depends on its viewers for its existence, not some overseas corporate interests. I think a lot of people, especially older people, will be howling about this. It is poorly thought out and will not go unpunished.

Don't worry about it. It's not that hard to find. That is what makes all this so laughable.

If it is just widevine, I'm sure the folks that make the Kodi addon for TVNZ will release an update in the next few days.

Those who use a generic IPTV player will have to roll their own solution.

I doubt there are many older people who are streaming TVNZ Live on official device, and even less using acquired, sideloaded, pirated  streams.

The change only affects Live streams and the new Sports channel

I use Kodi and TiviMate. I prefer TiviMate though.

Would it not affect everyone using an 'older' smart TV to watch the live streams? I would expect there would be some of these. And why apply this to all streams? I thought it was just the Sports channel that needs this.

This just reminds me of how much FTA TV sucks in this country.  I've spent an hour or so wondering why I have no TV tonight.

Clearly they think the 'rights' holders are more important than the viewers.

If the change is Widevine alone I'm surprised it's a problem. Widevine is used by most if not alone major services. Can anyone point to the tech details?

or does it just require use of an official app and users don't like that?

I just discovered that no TVNZ streams at all are working on any of my devices. Is this what it is supposed to do now? Fortunately I have satellite as a backup, but don't know why I would bother.

What devices? I’ve got a google tv (hd version not 4k) playing tvnz live now. And Apple TV 4k.

Haven’t tried my older chromecast yet. edit: Just tried it, no problems
With live.

Unsure if sport Ondemand is a different type of encoding .

Sorry I forgot your question. My devices are a Nvidia Shield, a Mecool combo receiver,  and a couple of generic Android boxes. None work. Live stream is the problem, not On Demand.
