frudrew: My unotelly has today well and truly died. Anyone else having problems? Netflix, Hulu, nz apps no longer work through unotelly.
Can anyone recommend another provider? Unotelly just don't respond like they use too. They're finished

I have switched from unblock-us (who became a bit useless and non-responsive once netflix became more aggressive on unblockers) to DNS4me and it works fine. However there is more involved than simply setting a DNS server address (information is on their website).

I have watched Netflix US everyday for the past 2 weeks, on multiple devices, with no issues.

It would be unusual for all of them to stop at once. I assume you've updated your IP address through their control panel?

My unotelly seems to have died as well, but only for Netflix.
I can still access all content that is by default available in NZ
unotelly seem to be completely ignoring support requests for help with netflix

Their Facebook page has disappeared as well (Unotelly's I mean), which is - choose one of the following...

a) worrying

b) intriguing

c) utterly unimportant

The website still works and the mobile Facebook site but still....

I discontinued Unotelly last week. They sent an email offering to get onto Skype to troubleshoot the issue. I suspect it's not worth the effort.

This thread is a little daunting at 53 pages and has become quite wide in its scope. I'd be grateful if someone could summarise where the crackdown has got to and whether there are any new solutions. I was tempted to start a new thread to ask the questions below - but here we go:

We have a paid unblockus monthly subscription and we pay Netflix US each month. We have the DNS settings loaded at router level. It was working fine up until about a week ago. Now Netflix is still working but US-exclusive content (eg. Better Call Saul) is coming up with a warning notice and won't run. Making country changes in unblockus seems to have no effect.

Does this mean that we are now seeing only shows that are available on NF NZ? If so, is this the end of the road for this type of approach - or are there new solutions or workarounds?

Pardon my ignorance on some of this - I don't fully understand the finer points of it all. Maybe I'm not alone.

A quick summary for you:

1. Unotelly no longer works for Netflix US content
2. Unblock-us no longer works for Netflix US content
3. Any titles in the NZ catalog WILL work even when viewing the US catalog
4. Hulu etc. don't seem to be affected
5. DNS4Me does work (but requires more than just the DNS address in the router, read their page for more info)

Other options to try:

1. Get a real VPN connection (haven't tried any or seen any recommendations on here, and they are a lot slower than DNS services)
2. DNS4Me (I personally haven't tried any other unblockers)
3. Torrent
4. usenet

Bascially Netflix have made it difficult to the point where unless your quite technical, it's impossible to access US content. Read the link a few posts back about the Canada situation and the references there to people turning back to piracy.

I was watching HoC S3 yesterday on Netflix on an Amazon FireTV.

The only place I have changed anything is the DNS settings for the FireTV. I haven't been onto the UnoTelly website for about 6 months. I have a link on my phone which updates my IP address. I have only done that once since getting BigPipe Fibre installed a couple of weeks ago (with StaticIP).

So, UnoTelly isn't completely broken. I suspect if I make any changes, I will break it though.

Edit: Is HoC S3 on NZ Netflix? I see in the post above that if it is in both catalogs it will play - I may be wrong when I say I am viewing the US catalog. What is another show to test?

I believe Friends and Futurama are US only. See if you can get them to play.

Try Fixer Upper (a home improvement show). It is US only

Just searched for 'facebook unotelly' on Chrome and Firefox and Opera and nothing. Weird. Oh well, not going to worry bout it too much (and yet if I click on your link it goes straight there).
