Rikkitic:

Has anyone noticed a deterioration of FTA streaming links? I normally use the Huisman playlist to watch NZ Freeview. Until recently this has worked fine, but in the past days I am starting to get lots of brief blips which I assume is the stream cutting in and out. Not long enough to break the stream but enough to cause hiccups in the audio and some brief pixilation of the video. Speed tests do not show any reduction in download speed. Same thing happens on both Kodi and TiviMate. Does anyone else have this?

Yep. Last couple of days have had heaps of brief audio drop outs and pixelation issues. My 10 year old has commented a couple of times about the glitching nature of it.

No issues with any of the streaming sites, just with Freeview channels, also using the Huisman plugin.

The TVNZ streams on their own TVNZ app are glitchy and pixelate often too.

Logically they should be the same streams as the Kodi ones as well I guess.

Can't say I have tried looking at the TV3 streams (or others) though.

Had this real bad on the Freeview app last night, rebooted the router and it seemed better but perhaps the problem is at the source?

Same issues watching TVNZ Breakfast via a browser this morning. Usually rock solid, but all kinds of weird corruption going on.

I usually start the stream from the beginning while the show it still on and then catch up on anything I'm interested in, and there was a lot of video corruption.

Pehaps the servers are under high load with the wet weather and the school holidays?

Thanks everyone for chiming in. I'm glad I'm not the only one. I guess I will just have to be patient and hope it improves.

@Rikkitic YES! Thank you! Good to see someone else with the same issue.

TVNZ has been bad for us the last few days - it's only TVNZ though.

I notice this afternoon they've stopped routing the streaming via NZIX and it's now via International (Australia) - though I don't often look at this so maybe it moves around all the time.

Seeing it on the Apple TV TVNZ app also (live).  So I flicked them a message via ‘Contact Us’.

The native TVNZ+ app is glitching for me too. Has been great until about 2 weeks ago, when pixelarion and sound distortion started happening roughly once every 30 seconds.

Today it has been once every 10 seconds, and has been pausing and replaying content that has played moments earlier

ThreeNow and Sky Sports NOW work fine. Have rebooted TV, Router, ONT, reinstalled the app.

The OnDemand content seems to be okay, but the Live TV via the app is unwatchable today

The raw stream itself is playing fine without any frame drops

It looks to me like its just an encoder issue at TVNZ's end

Duke and Tv2 looked fine when i checked in Kodi

I wonder how long it will take them to discover it.

I googled it at TVNZ+ a couple days ago and it’s a known issue. I thought it was my android box via Kodi that was the problem but it was happening on the Samsung TV's app as well.

TVNZ actually looks like our aerial feed.

The aerial got a bit damaged in one of the storms and regularly pixelates and glitches - but its still solid on TVNZ. I havent been in a hurry to fix it as we dont watch a lot of free to air content anyway.

I switched to the aerial feed for TV one and it is fine at our place.

It almost looks like they are picking up the TVNZ internet streaming feed over a poor broadcast feed. I cant think how a live digital feed that presumably goes off to transmission and internet feed can only show badly in the internet feed....

Perhaps the comment about the set top box in the cloud is truer than we know....
