Benoire: IF Sommet have Man U then I'll have to get PLP as I don't have access to freeview! If Sky have it then I'll not get it as I can cope with delayed matches in HD on my tv easily.
If you can get Sky, then you can get freeview. Freeview is available on satellite too, all you need is a decoder, which costs $50-100
Sommet only broadcast on terrestrial freeview. Something about no spare satellite frequencies.
Freesat is not freeview. Freeview uses MHEG5 do display the EPG, application data and hide streams. Freesat is simply DVB-S based and uses EIT for EPG data. Freesat is also not HD and there is very little capacity left on Optus D1 either.
If I want sommet, I have to install an aerial on my house and then purchase a DVB-T tuner card for my HTPC.
I emailed PLP support, and they responded as below - very quick response, which is good, but of course, maybe they don't have very many members...

All games will be archived for on demand or replay viewing but some matches will only be avaible until the start of the next round. There will be 250 matches that are available on demand or in replay for the duration of your subscription. The other 130 matches will only be available on demand or on replay until the start of the next round or about a week's time.
We can not confirm which games fall into each category at this time as that will be subject to change do to broadcasting rights.
The highest bitrate offered will be 3000Kbps. We will be happy to pass along a request to offer a 4500Kbps bitrate stream in the future -------------------------------------------------
So, it appears we can watch any/every game live or delayed (on-demand), at least until the next round of games.

Doesn't that mean the 1 each work day will be delayed? Plus some of the weekend ones since you can only watch one at a time and several will be played at the same time. That's fine by me, but remember you are not a "true fan" if you're not watching the game live. ;)

If you support a team but refuse to watch them on less than 1080p with Dolby surround sound, your not a true fan. You're a casual fan, which is great. PLP, for true fans only.

I didnt hear that, but I heard the latest NZ Tech Podcast this week and they stated that Tim Martin will be on their pod next week...
Well, I signed up for the standard pass and there were no restrictions on the CC registered address.
I've been doing some tests and had similar results and conclusions are similar to StarBlazer's findings. My old htpc wasn't as smooth to the 42" as was my Dell XPS M1530. But the picture quality on both was SD+. A 4.5Mbps option would be really good though if they go with it.
I also had confirmed by CS that they were not enforcing the one time viewing as suggested in their FAQ and so 250 games would be available to watch for the season and the other 130 could be viewed as many times as you like until the next round of games. CS have been pretty good at responding to the queries I've made.

You can do picture in picture with, i think it was 4 games at a time. So that might help achieve your 380 goal, but I suspect you need to get a 'true' life! :p
I've signed up now btw. Even if sky get my team as their fourth, I'm in the 'needs to be live camp'. When i do settle for delayed due to needing to sleep, I won't wait till 1pm/after work. Ps. Sky very clever throwing out all this doubt, esp leaving 1 team unannounced.

Yes, I hate that EPL schedules so many games at the same time. A common reason given is it's done to boost ticket sales. I would much prefer 380 live games. ;) Watching multiple screens doesn't sound appealing to me, especially if I can only stream the game once, and can't re-watch.
