Won't cast from Samsung Galaxy S, very limited cast from iMac. Yet these devices will sent to Xbox one. Nexus nope, Galaxy 5 I gave up on and thrown the Chromecast into the office waste paper bin.

It reminded me why I prefer MSFT products. They work

It will cast, and mirror screen, from both the nexus and galaxy s5. Suggest you pull from bin.

Since I have 2 of them and find them very handy I suggest you take another look and also make sure your WiFi network is sufficant for streaming. I've never had any problems.

As per "blocking" Google DNS don't do this - just use a static route instead as per my previous posts otherwise you'll run into issues with other devices that will not work if they can't access Google DNS.

Did you install chromecast app on phone? Nexus should have screen cast option direct from pull down menu

I know with my Microsoft Miracast adapter I can set it to use 5ghz to be less congested. Can you set that on chromecast somehow?

My Chromecast works fine over 2.4ghz

Is it for sale? Ex bin?

I found the more I used them the more apps I utilised it. First off I was kinda hmm, yeah it's handy. Now it's a daily one for me. Screen mirroring, media streaming via play movies, music, plex and YouTube. Google photos is handy too. Netflix, I don't use but I know people who do.

From chrome I've cast onedrive.live.com and skytv tabs which is handy. I think at the price point it's a good buy when you have multiple displays. I even have a spare I take with me in case I want to use one when I'm at others places.
