yep except netflix for example has +/- 10s buttons above the slider; SS should easily be able to do something similar but with a few more options... We are never gonna get live viewing while fw/rw like sky due to the way online delivery works so multiple skips is the only way.

I like the Netflix way on an Apple TV. There is the 10 second click (swipe and click) and the sllider is easy (click swipe, with thumbnails) Sky is quicker for small FF/RW, NF is better for longer, but both are quick and easy. Dunno how NF works on the Android app

+/- 10s with thumbnails.  Hold it down for longer bursts of speed I believe.  I only use the netflix app on the android tv... installed the NF on the phone to see how it did the UI for SS comparison.

Ok. If the iOS app had thumbnails, it would be 95% fine for me, finished. Its easy on the iPad as the slider is long. ATV4 app is what I really prefer though

My chief concern is missing stuff, the pre race stopped, its now not on the SS website. As was an F2 race 1 previously. I'm cleaning a spoon for the humble pie I expect to be eating very soon

Sorry saw this at the kids football and then forgot to reply!

Usability to me is based around how effective the system is to control and do what you want with it, right now for example, there is no fine control over timeshifting.  I wanted to go back 30 seconds last night during FP1 but the slider doesn't have that fine control, leading to going all over the show.  That is a fundamental usability issue right there and something that should have been fixed by now, yet it hasn't.  I accept the concept of beta (I'm an original backer of Star Citizen!) but I'm at the same time I do not accept that beta testers should pay full price for the pleasure of teasing out these simple issues.

I've continued to subscribe due to my crazy insatiable desire to watch F1 but I know I'm being dumb in doing so as all is confirm to Spark that users will pay even for under developed software.

For this system to hit 10/10 it would need:

  • Android TV app that is brand agnostic
  • Full FW/RW with live picture and not just blank screen skip (a la sky)
  • Apple TV App
  • Bookmarks built in to the stream to jump to the key points should you arrive late in to the stream, or accessing the VOD stream.

I won't use chromecasting once the android TV app is ready as I hate CCing as I much prefer a remote and tend to keep my phone away from me when watching stuff.

Whats full FW.RW with live picture? Thumbnails? Ive fed that back, I will reply when I get a response.

ATV4 app is coming. Spark have advised a range of new apps. I would assume they are pre RWC, minimum

Im not familiar with Android TV, but I assume brand agnostic is part of Android TV? I.e. Android TV on anything just works?

Bookmarks. Ok, what is a key point? Yours may differ to mine etc. Are these key bookmarks common in SVOD?

Tks for the post

Kayo use this in their cricket coverage, you can jump into the feed at any point, and it has a slider you can bring up and it has 'Key Moments' along it, wickets, 6's etc.

Not sure how wide spread it is for other sports.

I have suspended my account. I don't get enough use out of it as i was hoping for more NBA games with the play offs, find the app not that easy to use and miss an easy to use programme guide that tells me what is on when

To top it off the F1 Qualifying in Baku cut out at the same point twice now like it is at the end of the on demand file but there is still 45mins to go. When I look up the qualifying it says the programme is 3hrs but when I start it says it is 3hrs~45mins?

I don't think I will sign up for the RWC but may return for the EPL. I hope they can progress to a fully fledged on demand sports broadcaster but in the meantime I will wait on the sideline..

Not sure that their team know what games are on...

That makes no sense. Also, I don't think you know what TPS is :)

Or the effort, costs and skills involved in developing anything.

Well you can assume what you want about what I know and can can't say.

But to you're point

Stupid business sense then 30-40 million buying the rights and surprise nothing left for expensive developers or thinking ahead. Either way the person who started it should be fired it's obvious for all to see.

SS feedback has me advised that:

We're continually working on improving the service.

Skip +10secs and -10secs is now in the web version, and that the iOS and Android apps will be shortly

How it looks as when you hover over the screen, you see the pause button, now the skips are there also. I assume the apps will be the same, so good news

Did they mention about longer skips, e.g. hold it down for it to go from +/-10s to 30 then 1 minute, 5 minutes etc.?

When I provide feedback I get a reply that it has been looked at but nothing about status so I have no idea what's going... How would we find out if bookmarks may be coming, e.g. predefined points in the stream which will allow, when joining late or at the VOD, to jump straight to it, e.g. the pit walk, the interviews, formation / lap 1 etc.?

Its 10 seconds. Ive also had vague replies, so I reply back and demand nicely I want more info

As to the 10 seconds, well, Netflix has that you can skip 10 seconds, or use the slider, it generally doesn't have chapters I dont think. Sky has 2X to 30X which is good for short skips but a pain for long ones, a slider works best then

I know you are using a phone, but you need to get onto a proper device IMHO. I'd use a phone only if I really had to. Browser wise there are issues with some but Safari or Chrome seem fine.  Then the slider works well. It would be good to ask if they will do chapters, I might do that. Are chapters common in general SVOD?

I have concerns, but it's killing any credibility you might be trying to build to suggest that whomever started it should be sacked or that it's plain for all to see, since I am in the all and it's not "obvious" to me. The general tone of this thread has been positive even if there are some fair and reasonable negative feedback to be taken into account"

It will be, in my mind, a completely different picture, if they screw up the RWC delivery :)

Well, I bought my RWC pass. Now I need for Chorus to get my Fibre in and Spark to live up to their promises. I have engaged an alternative service just in case. Hope for the best, plan for the worst.

I am super happy that I will be able to watch these matches, in another room, or at another location.

As good as I think Sky are, if they can't deliver a similar experience by the end of the year, if I can get my sports needs met eslewhere, they may have seen the last of my money.

I can't say I've ever seen chapters in svod, I've used vudu, netflix, itv, bbc.  THe only "chapters" I've ever seen is where an svod service has inserted an ad (itv, tvnz).  It would be a good feature, definitely in the F1 (and rugby when it comes), so you can skip all the build up and go right to kick off, race start.

+1 for get a device (and get stuff released on devices) I can't remember how many times I've said Chromecast works and is wonderfully priced.....but it's experience is crap unless you're just sitting on a single stream/video with no need to skip, change or interact with in in any way.  And don't get me started in a family situation.  It's perfect for a single user experience though.

BRING ON THE DEVICES!!!
