Watching the Norwich v Everton game when at the 88 minute mark I lost the connection, though I was unable to reconnect to this game, I could watch any of the other games. Contacting the PLP help disk didn't help either, in the end had to get the final result from the Internet. Not impressed with my first experience with Premier League Pass.

Just watched the Swansea - Manchester United match and it was okay. Quality did change a few times but overall happy that I can watch live.

"Just had a note from the world wide feed providers that they're having a technical issue with the Norwich Everton game. Apologise for the glitchiness and appreciate your patience"

maybe that's what happened to you?

A great night of football. The quality issue for me was put to bed. I watched at a constant 3k without any noticeable artefacts nor blockiness nor anything that would put me off the product. Yes I still want better quality but what I saw was good.

Key feature that impressed was the 4 game mode. Hard to tell if each game was showing at 3k in its own window, but if you chose to maximise any of the games they would be in 3k.

Overall a big plus for me.

Seems like that was the problem, pity the help desk wasn't aware of the problem, would have saved a great deal of hassle in the middle of the night. On the plus side it was great to see two young players coming though (Barkley and Redmond) I'll look forward to seeing these two again.

Im currenty watching the Arsenal - Villa game switch between 400-800 regardless of whether I select best available, 3000, 1600 or 800.

Pathetic.

I may as well get my sons lego out and play the game on my kitchen table.

[e2]Into the second half and its so jerky it looks like one of those flick-books you used to draw as a kid.

im getting 16.24mbps and 0.91 mbps and the aqrsenal game is still blurry and jerky.its a waste of time for me even joining,would like to thank tiger though for giving me the chance to find out how bad it is before spending money on rubbish.

Just finished watching Man U - The game was fantastic - the stream quality I would rate at 8/10.

No problems getting online and starting watching, as others have said sometimes the resolution would be a little blocky and a couple of time it went jerky but they were only brief moments.

The problem came when I paused it at half time to make a bacon and egg butty.

Came back to the feed and could not make the popup screen full screen - so I closed it. The when I clicked on the match to resume I got the swirly symbol and no picture. Tried a couple of times, rebooted the laptop twice still got the same problem - this was around 9.15-9.45 ish which I presume is when a lot of people woke up and started watching.

Thankfully the connection came back at 9.45 and had an almost flawless 2nd half viewing.

Considering this was the first-time real use of the system, and that they were giving away 10,000 free passes the day before, I would call this a success. There was a lot that could have gone very wrong.

Well done PLP we're looking forward to watching Hull City tomorrow.

Procrastination eventually pays off.

Watched the Liverpool v Stoke game when I got up this morning. I didn't find any issues watching it, although I was mucking around and inadvertently clicked on the 4 screen option and the final scores popped up.

I do hope though that they try to increase the quality in the near furture.

Morning guys,

So I was fortunate to sign up to Al Jazeera for a single month and get a free pass from Tiger. I've now watched both versions of the Man Utd game. Thoughts are as follows:

Al Jazeera

Slower to log in with about a 400ms ping to their servers. Takes a while to auto determine quality, but do not have a choice to force it. Not on demand yet as you can rewind the stream by up to 13 hours. I think when it falls of that does it then go on demand.

Quality is 'acceptable', players are ok with some definition in the face and the grass kinda looks more like grass. Full screen is fine and it doesn't look too grainy. Playback is fluid, with little problem with fast panning.

Premier League Pass

Well this was an interesting event. Forced to 3Mbps, however it looked like UK Sky Sports from 2005 in SD... except it just wasn't smooth. It seemed just out of focus, like it was passed through soft filters. No definition up close and below adequate at full screen. The worse bit though was the motion of the video; it was terrible. Slightly jerky with poor panning. Even worse was the fact that after a few minutes of watching it started to hurt my eyes, like a an Amiga running interlaced res on an CRT TV. As a comparison I tried the other sports hosts by Neulian and they where fine on the 51" TV, better detail (better than Al Jazeera) with smooth motion and no eye hurt.

Conclusion

Neither of these services are a patch on the previous DVB-S2 distribution of the 'beautiful' game, Al Jazeera is better but I'm not convinced that anyone from NZ would get a consistent connection to their servers. IF PLP had the higher bitrate that NFLpass has then this would be great (although I still do not like having to watch it on a browser, what happened to the easiness of a tv remote and selecting streams that way... It's actually quite hard to see a webpage from the other side of the room when running at 1080p!).

As I've still got a month left on my Al Jazeera I will use that extensively but I certainly will not be revisiting PLP until they get higher bitrate streams.
