I signed up to this on Monday and still haven't got any Netflix codes has anyone else? Email from Spark said two days max.
I signed up for this Monday as well, and was able to complete the Netflix code redemption within minutes. I was already on an unlimited plan.
Trying to get this sorted via Spark chat...and its not working. Sigh.
Legality of the Termination fee ?
"Plan charges and an early exit fee of $299, or $399 for Fibre plans, applies to your new 24 month broadband plan"
Given the commerce commissions rulings regarding termination fees..
How can spark even think a "early exit fee of $299, or $399 for Fibre" is anywhere near legal in NZ ?
Termination fees can only cover costs , cant be used as a deterrent or punishment.
Now, if only covering costs ($299-$399 really) , that exit fee would have to be at a pro rata basis, ie after a year the exit fee should be 1/2 .
And I could argue there would be no such cost to Spark for existing customers who sign up , except perhaps the cost
of a years netflix . Hardly $399 .
Interesting...I clicked the "Get Netflix" button in My Spark again and it applied the credit. Even though my account is still just unlimited not unlimited 24. Buggy set up procedure.
And now My Spark has an "Activate Netflix" button even though I just activated it...wonder if I can do it twice :)

Not true - I have it on very good authority* that Lightbox Originals has a new show in pre-production: "My Married Kitchen Rules At First Sight".

I can't imagine Netflix changing their systems for little old NZ?
Given they already have pretty effective regional restrictions in place (I know, not 100% but you have to be pretty determined to get round them) I don't see them adding any more layers

Spark just credits your Netflix account. The only system change is allowing Spark to credit a NF account directly

Spark just credits your Netflix account. The only system change is allowing Spark to credit a NF account directly

You're correct in that most people will sign up regardless and suck it up if they do leave early. However parties cannot contract out of the law or statutory obligations. Will be interesting to see if (when) this might get challenged in a Court or through the CC.
On the surface this looks good however I think 2D can give Spark I run for their money here with the 24M UFB 100/20 Plan.
I just did the sums, total over 24M:
2D 24M with Landline 100/20 + 12M Netflix + 24M Lightbox = $2699.76* **
Spark 24M with Landline 100/20 includes 24M Lightbox plus 12M Netflix Credit = $2760
Also worth noting that 2D Termination Fee is only $249.
*Doesn't include $30 Modem + Courier Fee (waived if Modem not required?)
**Includes unlimited calls to NZ & Aussie landlines, Caller ID, Call Waiting, Voicemail.
I'm happy with Spark, their service has been top notch since I joined them last year when I had UFB installed. Just pointing out the differences with Netflix and Lightbox vs 2D.
Just to add another dimension
Vodafone are currently doing free Neon with any 12 or 24 month broadband connection plus a $300 credit for a 12 month contract or 1/2 price for 6 months on a 24 month contract. Just signed up on 12 months 100/20 @ $90.99 per month.
12 months connection + Neon + Netflix + Lightbox $1103
Plus you are only locked in for 12 months, so if something better comes along at that time, you can jump ship or renegotiate
Slightly OT cannot justify buying a smart TV just to watch Netflix, Lightbox Etc as I have a perfectly good non smart older TV. Anybody know where you can buy decent quality media players here in NZ.
I previous bought a box via Alixpress but after nine months it decided to die. I don't want to get burnt again.
