LennonNZ: I just tried it.. Quality.. well.. not good at all.. I can't imagine watching it via the PS3 on a big TV (which you cannot at the moment).

You can... http://www.geekzone.co.nz/forums.asp?forumid=48&topicid=99786&page_no=7#601865

Take a look at the "My Devices" page on the "My Account" popup.

The http://www.quickflix.co.nz website is completely down at the time of typing... NOT a good start for a STREAMING web service... What sort of bandwidth do they have for it to go down like this. It's not just down for me, I checked on http://dfeorjm.com...

Aaaand, it's back up again as I finish typing. Still, not a good look.

PS, I've joined up, but the selection available is fairly ...limited, to say the least.

The question i'm wondering about is the streaming effected when their website is down and It's possible it's down due to high traffic. I'm gonna sign up when I get home and try out the free trial period get some legal TV for a change and watch season 1 of the newer Dr Who which I've never watched.

If the content doesn't increase or if Xnet doesn't jump on the unmetered traffic then it may just last that initial trial or maybe a month into it to show support of the concept as I can't afford to stream pay per gig traffic.

The website could have gone down for various reasons, I myself reported a reasonably critical issue, that would've required a config change to the QF servers (and potentially bouncing them completely), I think it's just a case that because NZ is the first expansion (I think) for Quickflix into other countries that they are spotting issues, fixing them, and putting them down as lessons learned.

The fact that Quickflix were responsive to the issue that I reported I think is a very good sign.

Edit: Looking at the timing of Sam's post, and the e-mails I got from Quickflix, I'd say the server was down because they were infact fixing the issue I reported to them.

My account shows next billing at 19 April so looks like 21 days free.

Can't get my PS3 to log in though, 'user name or password wrong'.

I can't log in with my PS3 either. It says wrong username/password, though I've double checked it.
Can still log on via PC.
When I click on user account and payment history, it says I have already been charged the 9.99 plus "admin fee"...

NonprayingMantis: managed to get it working finally.

my review based on early impresssions follows:

quality:
haven't yet tried streaming on my Sony TV or PS3. hopefully it will work.
stremaing on my laptop works fine, although takes quite a while to connect ot the stream. running it over a 20mbps connection only had to buffer once.
However, picture quality is very poor. I wouldn't even class it as SD. quite a bit of ghosting on fast moving shots
audio hard to tell. seems fine. haven;t run it over home theatre so difficult to judge

that's pretty crap.

anything less than hd and dolby digital 5.1 isn't getting my hard-earned $$$

That stinks, did you use the promo code? (sorry had to ask!)

Looks like the PS3 software is Aussie, dosn't tie up with the 'PS3 user guide' and says $4.99 for the first 3 months and 2 free blu-rays when you select sign up!

Won't let me log on with my PS3, on hold with 'customer service' now, at least they answered!

Technical issues they know about, working on it, took my phone number and will call back! (cue yeah right!)
